Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

ACTUALLY, i did connect it to a different internet connection which didnt help, returning it home and reconnecting it to MY network might of done the trick? not to sure tho, thats all it could of possibly been! thanks tho gents!!!

got DSTV now to work, dunno what i did differently but it just decided to log itself in over night.....

Makes me think of a computer we had at church, take it home, fix it, it works fine. Take to church, connect, and nothing. Take it home, it works. Took stripping it completely, and rebuilding, then a break to have coffee, at church and it worked for 10 years after. Do not ask me why, because I honestly do not know.

I just bought a Lit box, what are the first things/tweaks I should do?
It is still running Android 8, what are the newer OS like?
Any recommended apps I should install?

And are there any apps available that I can view and control the media on the device?
I mainly want to be able to remotely select and control music

That's the latest OS right now

Anyone have any ideas?
You can use Yatse(a remote control app) on your phone and install Kodi on the box.
Then you can play music from your home network or phone on the box after you setup a UPnP server.
You can also use apps like BubbleUPnP to play music and send it to a UPnP compatible app on the box.
Just don't expect to play videos on the Lit Box as the micro stutters will drive you crazy since it doesn't support auto frame-rate switching like the Mi box.

Play videos on LIT box via VLC without issues, but do not use Kodi.

What, the Mi-Box is on 9 isn't it or is 8 the latest?

The Ematic is on Android 9.0 if you guy it now - the ones in field haven't been upgraded yet though. Will be shortly though.
The LIT is still Android 8.0 - but will also start the upgrade process to Android 9.0 very shortly.

You're hardly going to see any different between 8 and 9 though :(

Thanks for the tips, I just want to view what an app on the Lit is playing and be able to play/pause skip/rewind on my phone, is that possible with any app you can install on Android TV?
