Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

@Nology please help.

My LIT box "updated" to Version 9.6.7 this morning. Now the box does not react at all to Infrared remote commands, except to switch power on. It only responds to remote commands via Bluetooth or via the Android TV remote app via WiFi.

I have been using my programmable Infrared remote for years with this box, due to a number of reasons. Now there is no response to the commands from the remote. The remote that came packaged with the LIT box is junk. It is also most inconvenient to use my phone as a remote via the Android TV remote app.

It would be much appreciated if you could provide the Infrared Remote driver software that was used on the Android Version 8.0. Alternatively, what other app could I use to read and react to the Infrared remote signals?

Hi!

My LIT box is telling me that GOTA V.9.6.7 is available for update.

The LIT box is working fine and I don't wanna mess up anything. It says that when you do the update all data will be erased.
So will have to go and reinstall and link showmax and netflix and dstvnow etc etc. Lose currently watching. Lose already watched. Etc etc etc.
Sounds like a bad idea.

What if i don't update?
Will I start to lose functionality?
Will I be ostracized from society?
Will I go to jail?
Or will I just have to live with a GOTA update available box on my screen until the Good Lord takes me away?

I was about to ask the same question...
I updated mine yesterday. The update fixex some sound problems with Plex.

The one issue that I have found is the the IR sensor no longer reacts to infrared remote commands. Nology are not interested enough in their customers to restore that functionality.

I had the update on my A11 and it is working just fine. There is the "pairing" screen that comes up from a hard reboot - not making sense with my state of the art infrared remote, but the back button takes me past it. apart from it, it is just dandy so far. Sorry to sound patronising, but have you tried replacing the batteries in your remote?

Also, if you struggle with Plex - grab Kodi and the Plex add on.

I did replace the batteries. I also tried my main remote that had learned the IR commands. I also installed the Button Mapper app, but it does not see any ir commands at all, except for Power.

Nology informed me that the IR functionality was removed by design, so I'm a bit confused: are you on the version 9.6.7 firmware and your IR still works?

Plex is working great now. It worked fine on V7, but V8 introduced problems with AC3 and DTS sound. V9 sorted that out.

IR works on both my updated A11s, and A11 only came with IR remotes. Whats your revision number? Maybe it was removed for newer LITs that came with Bluetooth remotes?

Did you do the Version 9.6.7 update already?

My box is an 07 version

Yes, one was about six weeks ago, and the other was about two weeks ago. The only issue I am having is Amazon Prime not outputting HDR correctly anymore since update. Everything else is fine for me.

That's weird. This is Nology's reply to me request for help:

Thank you for contacting Nology Technical Support.

Unfortunately there is no way to roll back the update for the remote drivers as this falls out of the scope of the manufacturer.

The only Remote related App on the device is the Android TV Remote Service, this service only allows for the use of Android Mobile devices to be used as a remote,

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you

So with latest update the normal remote won't work anymore?

Hmmmm, that's very odd indeed. I honestly don't have an answer about this then. I didn't do anything special when updating, so as to why both of mine work with IR remotes is beyond me.

I'll try a factory reset. Please hold thumbs for me

I saw your previous post about the remote working by BT. I assume your model is a B07 then, and those models had the bluetooth drivers for remotes. as I said, the A11 and older only had IR remotes and I so maybe the drivers were kept on these LITs updates, while any LIT that came with BT remote had the drivers removed. It's the only thing I can think of.

That doesn't sound good. I'll just have to use the crappy remote that came with the box

Anybody tried doing a custom build with needed drivers?

Hmmmm, so on 9.6.7 Amazon Prime HDR is borked for me. This is on two separate LITs and two separate TVs.

What I have noticed is that the output video modes of the Lists no longer gives the options of 8bit, 10bit and 12bit. Now there's a Color Depth option which seems to either push a 8bit or 12bit signal. It seems that as the LIT now says 12bit when Color Depth is enabled, Amazon Prime pushes Dolby Vision which my TVs don't support causing the picture to be washed out. I am speculating, but I am sure this is the issue.

Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube displaying HDR nicely though.
Hey, how do you get Amazon prime onto the box? Can't find it in the Google play store.

Could you show me a link for the version you've sideloaded please?
