Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

So, looking at this remote thing.
The airmouse thingy is bluetooth, not IR, so there's nothing to learn with the harmony. I've asked SDMC if they will release remote infrared protocol info...
I am going to try using the USB IR receiver I used for my HTPC in the meantime... will report back.

You sure about that? Seemed like conventional RF to me rather than Bluetooth.

Could be. I assumed bluetooth given it's radio tech.
I guess I could plug the dongle into my pc and see what it says ;)

What remote would you guys recommend something with a keypad that's decent quality and budget friendly

More good news

Managed to get some info from Nology.. they are receiving a new software update for this box tomorrow, but will first need testing.. so the first update is close to release for us..

I addressed some of the issues we experiencing and they seem to know about it and provided work around that we already using such as netflix and sideloading..

Other issues i reported they will look into

My ir receiver from my microserver seems to be working :D

Challenge - it's working fine in Kodi. However, the back/stop/etc keys don't seem to work in the DSTV now app and other apps.

Need an android keymap editor ... /goes to google.

I bought one of these a few years back

That's a pretty neat IR receiver with mapping etc - and you can download something ...

EDIT : The FLIRC USB

Is it worth it nowadays though? You can do most stuff via WiFi and Bluetooth

Well it was pretty cool to use any IR remote ... old DVD player or something lying around and be able to map to any key. I figured it could help Sinbad.

I'm just jealous. Was too pricy for me to buy

Mine is a flirc supported remote receiver. It's just a matter of figuring out what signals the Android box actually gets from it and mapping those to Android functions.

I have seen people recommend an app called "Multi-language Keymap Redefiner" on some droid forums.

Am trying this one

SEEMS to work...

/edit - and all working.

Trick was to map the buttons in the Harmony software to a function (not necessarily matching, though), and then use the keymap editor to map the button to a function. Only one I need for that is, I mapped Yellow to "i" and then mapped "i" to Home. Oh and I'll need to map del to back, I think, since my back button is mapped to del (works nicely in Kodi, but need to check it in other apps)

I want to get one of these today. Is it possible to view Netflix in 4K with the LIT? Youtube in 4k? Or is it limited to 1080p?

As far as I know it can do YouTube up to 4k not too sure about Netflix
