Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Link to Terrarium tv version 1.81 anyone? For some reason the latest version seems to be buffering a helluva lot. Wanna see if its perhaps update related.
 
You know, Telkom can be really backwards sometimes.

I'm asking them on twitter when we can expect official Android TV support for Netflix, and they tell me to go and download the APK for Android on Netflix website... THAT IS NOT ANDROID TV I said....

So they referred me to this thread if I need further help....

Many customers have found that this solution works – they load the app on their phone/laptop and then save it to their apps and add it when they login on their Lit box.

Clearly they don’t know he difference between Android and Android TV? It’s really mind boggling. Either that or they really don’t care that the Android TV version of Netflix is not supported by their device which is downright immoral considering the device was advertised as it would be.

It’s like buying a PC with windows 10 and all the apps work except for command prompt. You have download and installed command prompt from windows XP as a workaround

This thread is / has the most / best collected wisdom / knowledge currently available with regards the Telkom LIT box. Just did not know that Telkom where aware of this threads existence. Surprise!

Just need NetFlix sorted and then this is a great streaming box, especially at the price.

Before you rush upon me, I am not associated with Telkom in anyway (barring a brief horrible period when I had ADSL). However I do know some people in this sort of industry. The problem here is not Telkom but Netflix itself. The box is not approved by Netflix. This is something Telkom must negotiate with Netflix directly. Probably much like the DSTV now or Showmax. My understanding is Netflix is resistant to this process for some unknown reason.
 
Have you guys had success when casting apps?

I've managed Showmax and Youtube (so it works) - but guessing that the default Netflix app won't work and I'd need to sideload?
Casting is not just a simple mirror then?

Chrome cast works well from Google chrome although no luck with Netflix
 
I’ve tried so many damn versions I just gave up. I can live with the sideloaded version I have now.

Why you wanna cast anyway??

I'm just testing what works and what doesn't for interest
 
Because native " casting " just works when it is available. The touch screen experience.
