Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Got my box today... A07. Everything is running like it should. Quite happy thus far. I tried to get the Google assistant to work by pairing a pair of wireless headphones which also have a microphone but still didn't work. Seems a pretty dumb feature to have when we can't use it.
I noticed on the thread the how-to on disabling the screen saver. I found a much easier route, seems to be working. I don't like the standard launcher the box comes with, I prefer TV launcher. So I installed it, and under that launcher, I went to settings and disabled screen saver. I also discovered that the settings menu in the main launcher crashes. I have found that if I reboot the box, and give it a few minutes before using it, when I enter settings it then works smoothly. If I rush into settings as soon as the box boots up, it crashes. I presume the OS is loading things in the background etc so by giving it time to complete it's processes it allows for seamless operation.

The DStv app is soo much better than the native android version. The picture quality is much better. I would say it's identical to the stream you get when watching DStv now via laptop browser. 2.5mb max, but still good to watch. Some improvements can be made with the layout of the app, I'm sure with time it will get even better.

Is there an app I can download that I can control the box from my mobile phone? I see on the setup instructions that come with the box state how to get the app, but I've got no idea if that's just a generic template that was printed.
App to control from droid phone: "Android TV" on Play store. Or otherwise try Cetusplay app.

Went to the telkom store in Nelspruit yesterday to pick up one of these boxes.. They have 20+ units in stocks but all of them are A06 models.. Decided not to get one.

I don't mind the lack of Bluetooth too much. It's the 5ghz WiFi that I want. Pointless having 100mb Fibre if the thing can only connect to a 2.4ghz network.

Thanks serpent. It works well. I'm now able to use Google assistant with this app. Only flaw is that it doesnt have volume control. Just downloaded another similar one and has volume control at least.

Yeah I must admit, if it wasn't for the fact that I use the ethernet port, 2.4ghz wifi would be a real bummer, although good 2.4ghz can do up to 90Mbit/sec easy if you have a good AP and the client device is decent too.

I had to sign out and sign back into the DSTV app just now. Maybe too many people streaming?

What's the cheapest Telkom Lit service you can take? They don't want to sell me the box as is.

They tried that with me.
I said, hold on, let me quickly phone headoffice for you, and see what they say. Guy quickly said, wait, then asked his manager, who said yes sell me one cash.

Box is only available on a 50GB or 100GB deal. Which is minimum R899 a month. Not worth it. See above what I did instead.
If he has the compulsory telephone line can he add it onto the bill?

Thanks just ridiculous they can't properly train staff/give them proper information.

No they trained well.. they want you to take out a contract! so locked in for 24 months.. thats just business.. but we have to be smarter than them

Anybody have the right apk for terrarium tv and show box. I see so many fakes in the play store but can’t find the real one? Thanks in advance. Does it need to be sideloaded?

It won't appear in playstore, sideload, aptoide will have it, look for the green tick.

Telkom direct sell cash. Telkom express do not.
