Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Voice search doesnt work at all. Well for me that is...

Also when using the keyboard; after typing hitting enter doesnt initiate the search. So frustrating

I have a normal wireless keyboard connected to the box. Yup, hitting enter does not initiate anything. In fact if the onscreen cursor is still on a letter, hitting enter initiates a keypress of that letter. Super frustrating.

I cant comment on the voice search - dont have a use case for that yet. I use the box for Kodi or DSTV Now or other streaming apps and the search is not integrated to those apps

Same issue. Have to scroll to the enter key and then press enter. Annoying

It seems the best of both worlds might be a Chromecast plugged into 1 HDMI port to access apps which need Google certification etc. and a cheap android box plugged into another HDMI port together with a mouse to experience all the other Apks(and official apps) out there . Just a thought.

Considering this option since already using a Chromecast , and there are a few Apks that are worth it without casting options even with using apps like Web Video Caster.

Or just get a MiBox

Don't you have both of those on a decent android tv box?
Read my original post again which you quoted . Chromecast plus an Android box , and not the Android TV operating system incorporated in a box .

I hear you. Although I still don't see what you can do on a cheap android box that you can't do on an android tv box?

I think its a bit of both either way
Some apps are optimised for android tv OS dont work on cheap boxes

Some apps that work on android boxes arent availabe for Android TV OS.

Theres ways to get around it. Sideloading etc.

no problem

Sorry its so long but hopefully it will help others if they ever need to get info on telkoms return/repair policy

If they come back and tell me that the box is faulty and that they have repaired it, i will demand that they replace it with a new unit in line with their 7 day policy. I explicitly told the staffer that dont want a repaired unit. I want a replacement.

Have you heard/received anything from Telkom?
I just received this so it seems as they are going to repair my 3 week old lit box?
Ridiculous.

“Your LIT TV TVB100 TELKOM has been allocated to a Repair centre for repairs - Ref. We will contact you with any updates. Telkom Mobile. Please do not reply to this”
