Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Yes and possibly the newer box's shipped with the updated firmware already?
Or did this firmware get pushed after?
Pushed after. It seems some boxes aren't getting it though
 
Just a timeline FYI

10 April - LitBox booked
17 April - Litbox allocated to a Repair centre for repairs

Nothing from telkom since. :whistle:

8 April - lit booked in
17 April - received sms that box was allocated to a repair centre.

Nothing since. Day 24 now.

Now on day 32 and still no call or sms or anything.
Drove past our telkom store yesterday and popped in.
They cant find anything on their systems! They remember me and I had the paperwork there but still they can not pick up anything on their system. So I tell them to phone someone and figure this out. Answer... wait for it... they cant phone because it is a Telkom “direct” store and they do not have a landline. So I offered to use my own cell phone to make the call but they did not know who to phone.
They sent an email (seemed like guess work) and said That I must be patient, it will eventually arrive. Nothing further. Its like dealing with my 2 year old and her friends. 3 to 4 word sentences, a lot of blank stares and handing me a pink teddybear when I ask for the lego block. Only difference is that with my 2 year old at least it brings a smile to my face, in store I had different thoughts.

because the counter staff are as useful as a zombie from the walking dead.

I might try calling at some point today.

Yes I spoke to the manager. I interrupted his steers lunchbreak in the back room. No help. Just repetitive “we sent an email, be patient, nothing more I/we can do”. The only good thing and what I learnt from him yesterday was to remember to wipe my face after taking a bite from a wacky Wednesday steers burger. Was difficult to keep a straight face with a piece of lettuce dangling from his chin. Had to find some humor in the whole situation.

Ok so I just received this via sms:

“your TELKOM LIT TV TVB100 has been dispatch back to Telkom Direct Store. Handset will be delivered in 4 days. Telkom Mobile. Please do not reply to this”
 
Just got the same sms now. I guess next week is D-day.

I'm definitely going to insist that they replace.

Just fyi...
The manager from telkom direct store personally phoned me earlier today from his cell.
Aparantly they could not fix my lit box and therefore swopping out the unit for a new one.
I can pick up the new box tomorrow. I hope yours turns out the same...

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if it is possible to change the dns settings in the WiFi connection on the LIT box itself?
 
Update:

Telkom replaced my Litbox. I received an A07 Box. I returned a A11. (Could be old inventory)
Nonetheless, it was sealed and everything. And i inspected it in the store before leaving, and was happy that it was a new unit. I did have a stern word with the store manager regarding their retarded returns/repair policy.

Some things to note:

- For safety i did a factory reset, checked for updates, etc. installed all my apps and so far its running fine.

- The A07 did not have DSTVNow preinstalled but it did have Showmax installed. (No biggie, just grabbed it off the playstore)

- I can confirm that the bluetooth works. I was able to connect 2 bluetooth controllers. (i was unable to connect my controllers via bluetooth to the A11.)

- The A07 comes with a 2.4Gz wireless controller (and USB dongle) which has a proper Airmouse. Its not a very good one though. However, I would prefer an Airmouse as opposed to the "pointer" on the A11 box that i returned. (I will try out my Minix A2 lite this evening)

- the box comes with Google app for TV version 2.0 - which is rather basic, it allows you to do youtube searches and thats it. You can get the latest version from APK mirror (version 3.2) which at the moment lets you do alot more, it can search within apps, tell you the weather, give you score updates of current matches etc.

I'm disappointed that the box doesn't come with a remote that has a microphone. Obviously Android TV OS was designed with mic input in mind.
At the moment I'm using the Android TV remote app from the playstore on my LG G4. It works ok but feels kinda silly using my phone if i have a remote. I just want something that works all in one.

Apps I'm running and consider must haves:

- Terrarium TV
- Google app for TV (Ver 3.2 - from APK mirror)
- Kodi
- Blokada (ad blocker works like a charm)
- DSTVNow
- Crunchy Roll (for anime)
- Tunein radio
- ES File Explorer
- TV App Repo
- Chrome browser (You cannot install chrome from the playstore - the only way is to install remotely via the playstore from a PC)
- Sky Force Anniversary (works with 2 bluetooth controllers - me and the wifey can play together :) )


Happy so far. :)
