Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Android 6 on my telkom lit A06 box

Hi guys i have android 6 on my telkom lit A06 box. Is there any place i can get the firmware for 7 downloaded ?

My guess is that it should update to the latest version. But just tried the update the version on my box, and got an error about not being able to connect to the OTA server, not sure what that means, as LIT box is on wired connection on a 10 mbps line.

To update these things does one have to take them in to Telkom?

Not feeling brave enough to try updating manually and then brick the device.
 
When I update on the box it says "device up to date"
Anyone here has A06 box running 7.1.2 ?

From what I remember, the A06 boxes with Android 6 on had to be returned to get one with Android 7. There was no update made available for 6 to 7.
 
The brave way to update it, would be to find a linux image that can boot on these on SDcard. Make an image from one that has android 7 on, then image that to the box with android 6 on.

It is something I am easily comfortable doing, but not sure how I would explain this to someone else. I also have an A06 box with android 7 on, so I could make the image for you, but I would have to factory reset mine as I dont want to image all my saved passwords over ect. Can still do it, if I can find a linux that can boot on these.

Edit: Scratch this idea. Cant find anything to do the above with this box, you will have to open it up and go hardcore and not willing to do that with my box.

You will have to swap it at a Telkom store, if they still allow it for the older Android 6 A06 boxes.

Ish ok ...at least I know android 7 works on it...wonder if they dont exchange if they can just give me the firmware to load
 
Morning Guys,

Got one of these boxes and am impressed. Just need to know if there is a app we can download to switch the machine off / restart etc? Also when my kodi has gone to sleep for some time and I want to play something again it seems to have dropped the connection to my media pc. I then have to restart the player for it to work again. This is not Telkom Lit Box specific it happens on my minix u1 as well. It there a fix for this?

regarding on/off

Goto Settings>TV Settings>Power Button

You can choose whether it Sleeps, restarts, or power's off the device.

Even though i have a Lit box, judging by the issues being raised in this thread, i would probably get the Mi Box if i had to buy a another box - same price, also available locally, but seems to be less issues (from what i can see on the two threads)

Issues aside, there are probably more LIT boxes out there and most given to "first timers" ..., don't have issues myself, and the LIT box is somewhat more versatile, having more connectivity options.
