Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Can somebody link me to a proper working version of YouTube? One I have works fine, but only in full screen. If I minimize it, it flips sideways.
 
Been a while since I checked this thread so apologies if it's been asked/answered before..

Anyone else have issues streaming DSTV Now and Showmax? I get tons of buffering, especially with streaming live tv on DSTV now.

I'm on a 100mb Openserve line with capped data from both AH and Vox. I stream Netflix in 4k without problem through the Netflix app on my Samsung smart TV as well as YouTube. I can stream 4k on multiple devices simultaneously and I average 98mb/s on speedtests. Get full speed on steam, etc. So it's not a line issue..

I doubt it's a shaping issue as 1) it's the same with different isps 2) I'm using capped data that is supposedly unshaped and 3) Other "streaming services" have no issues.

I notice that the quality dips at times when streaming DSTV on my laptop as well but it isn't as bad as the constant buffering I get using the DSTV now app on my LIT box. I'm not sure if it's DSTV's terrible quality server, if they're throttling certain ISPs, or if it's the DSTV Now app on the LIT box.

Anyone else having this issue?

edit: Not a new issue for me btw, been this way ever since I got my LIT box (probably Dec last year)..
 
I never have a single issue with DSTV or Showmax streaming on Lit box. Always goes straight to full hd and stays there for the duration.
This is on 20/20 Vumatel trenched with CISP.
 
Anyone used a wireless xbox 360 controller with this?

I see Steam Link is out in Beta mode, would love this if it works.

Still getting pixellation. Which is weird. I'd watch Full metal alchemist on netflix but the subtitles are white without a black border so its difficult to read. My downloaded episodes all look perfect on the PC, but play crappily on the lit box.

Im using the wireless Xbox360 controllers. With the xbox usb wireless connector. Its ok for controlling the Litbox and for playing most Android Tv games on Litbox Play store. However i get camera spin on some games such as Android Tombraider and Tombraider 2 as well as most sideloaded normal Android games. But I understand that the wired xbox 360 controllers works well for most of these games. Unfortunately i dont have wired controllers.

Just got confirmation that there won't be an official Netflix app as they've declined to certify the lit box.

Sorry only saw this now. I found out how to change the subtitles appearance on Netflix, which made them legible, but then they appeared out of sync. sigh. So I downloaded a new version from the interwebz (720p mkv) and all seems fine. No pixelation. Seems like the box didnt like my old episodes for some reason
 
Na I mean like installing Mozilla or chrome and going to the url and test it....but thanks for the info good to know casting works
 
This box should never have been pushed prematurely into the market - but this was said right from the start .
