Dropped frames?
I am not sure. Need to map a button on my remote to see decoder stats somehow.
But yes, it seemed like that.

What was the bitrate?I am not sure. Need to map a button on my remote to see decoder stats somehow.

What was the bitrate?
It was ~1GB per hour of video, if that helps
One of my files is 1.8GB for a 58 minute file and that's only has a 4Mbps bitrate.
You will have to check if Kodi is doing hardware decoding.
What is the second audio track, maybe it's the DTS HD it doesn't like.It must be. There's no way the cpu could come close.
/edit Confirmed, hardware.
Seems to be slightly better tonight. I dunno.
The audio is passed through. What is the second audio track, maybe it's the DTS HD it doesn't like.
4mbps is plenty. DSTV Now runs 1080p at less than that (1.7GB/hour)One of my files is 1.8GB for a 58 minute file and that's only has a 4Mbps bitrate and the quality is amazing.

The DSTV stream is most likely H.265It's the only thing I can think of, from your screenshot it doesn't seem to be DTS HD anyway it's AC3 aka Dolby Digital, have you tried another player besides Kodi?
4Mbps x265 is even better, the quality is great, I'm a big fan of x265.
DSTV Catch Up on the Explora 2 uses x265, the stuff the devices auto downloads, that's why they could change to a 1TB HDD down from a 2TB on the Explora. The DSTV stream is most likely H.265
I used the android tv app remote last night - worked really well. No need to worry about your remote battery going flat etc.
Blegh. Think I've found a limitation on the box
Downloaded a 30GB H264 file. Required data rate is about 50Mb/sec - the LIT doesn't cope with that over an SMB share (wired network)
Played some 1080p DTS-MA HEVC 10 bit stuff last night. It seemed like the frame rate was very low.
Is that normal with HEVC? (Wasn't a network bandwidth constraint, kodi had buffered about 20% of the file
