I surmise that the error was an update issue, as after updating for the 5th time in 2 weeks, it started to update library files, after which it worked again, an Android glitch if you will, my guess.

This happened Saturday - had the error a week, 10 days, not sure. Not on the LIT box tho, on my tablet.

YouTube for Android TV v2.03 enables voice commands, resuming videos after app switching, and personalized homescreen channels

YouTube's app for Android TV hasn't seen a lot of updates since it switched over to the web wrapper as an interface. However, each new version usually brings something of some importance. The latest release comes with a couple notable enhancements, including performance enhancements, automatic resume after switching apps, and voice commands via Google Assistant. For some people running Android Oreo, there may also be new "personalized channels" appearing in the homescreen.

YouTube began experimenting with voice commands at least as far back as 2015, and over time we've seen those commands going live on phones. Now that Google Assistant is standard on many Android TV units, voice commands to control playback are a pretty obvious feature.

The latest update to YouTube's app for Android TV has added integration with Assistant to enable several different commands for both playback and finding media. You can perform basic actions like pausing and resuming video, skipping forward or backward (pictured above), and so on.

You can also use voice commands for the already familiar functions like searching for videos or to navigate to certain screens within the app like your library.

Resuming after switching apps

The official changelog describes a new feature that makes it easier to resume videos after switching apps, but that description doesn't really explain what to expect. To put it simply, if you left YouTube while a video was playing, the video will automatically resume playback when you return to the app. This can occur after app switching or just hitting the home button and then relaunching YouTube. It does seem like an improvement after previous versions would blindly close the video and you would often have to seek it out in your history or subscriptions to get it playing again. However, it might be something to watch out for if you don't want the video to resume.

Personalized channels

YouTubes changelog also mentions personalized channels, but don't expect to see those going live merely by updating to the latest version. These channels are actually enabled remotely by YouTube, and they're only available to some accounts at this time. This would look a lot like an A/B test if it weren't listed in the changelog. For many of us, there are only two channels: Recommended and Trending. However, the shots above also include a third channel named Subscriptions. Hopefully there will be more new channels coming soon.

Ola. First things first im not gonna read through 2000+ posts to see if this has been asked and answered before ( yes i am lazy like that )

Does anyone know if there is an OS update for this stupid device. TV settings not working, Google Chromecast not working, etc etc.

Or does anyone know how to fix it?

I'm not going to go back and see if you've already mentioned what version you're currently using... I'm lazy like that. ;)

TV Settings not working seems a common problem. I had to factory reset mine to get it to work. But make sure once it works you set everything you need to in that section, because when you try to go to it later on it will crash again (but the settings would have been saved)
 
Anyone else having issues with youtube recently?

I removed the update and reinstalled it, also cleared cache and reset the app.

It still freezes while playing a video, plex works fine and casting from my phone seems to be fine.

No issues my side, i have two lit boxes, both are fine with youtube
 
Also having Youtube freezing problems on both my Litboxes from time to time. Android 7.12. Updated Youtube last night. Will see if it does any better.
 
I recently bought the telkom box but it keeps on changing language to chinese evertime it goes on standby, I have to keep changing it to english, how do I fix this???

Settings ➡️ Tv Settings ➡️ HDMI CEC ➡️ Auto change language should be off

Mmm. Same here but all I do is go to “apps” under settings then under tv settings there “clear cache”, “force stop”, restart and then all ok again.

I originally had the A11 version of the box till the hdmi port failed. Telkom then replaced my faulty A11 unit with a A07 unit. My A11 unit never had this problem. The A07 unit does all sorts of weird stuff like the tv settings not responding. Dont even get me started with the annoying mouse pointer that constantly pops up on screen.
On my A07 box the blue lights on the front of the box also constantly stays on even when in “sleep” mode where, if I remember correctly with my previous A11 box, the lights turned red in sleep. My A07 box also feels very sluggish compared to my previous A11.
The A11 was definitely better and less annoying. Which version do you have out of curiosity?

YouTube has been iffy not just on LIT box though, on my laptop as well. Been having internet issues as well ( Telkom ), not sure if related tho.

I think through LG TVs do this for some reason ... What TV do you have?

What Android version do you have?
 
Youtube kept on freezing over over last night. Latest version. Same problem. Had to uninstall all updates and roll back to original version and now its playing just fine again. Older version however is not as user friendly as the newer versions.
