Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi all i have A07 did update 2 times last night so now on latest version anybody knows how to uninstall dstv now app i have old ver 2.0 of the dstv now app prefer this older version as compared to new version, tried running dstvnow.apk ver 2.0 via sideload and it fails, did this before in the past and i was able to uninstall lastest version of dstvnow app then ran old dstvnow.apk ver 2.0 but now there's no option to uninstall dstv now app as they have bundled it in update as part of system any help will be highly appreciated.

Try going into settings and see if dstv now is under apps go into it if it is there then stop app and then uninstall app.:p

tried that, the option to force stop is there but no option given to uninstall, most likely coz app bundled with system firmware update.

This is what I could gather about the update. There are multiple steps (as most here already know :-)

To update the High Definition Content Protection (HDCP) is quite an involved process and is executed in three steps:
1. Comms module upgrade which will auto-reboot your device – without much warning.

2. Upgrade to firmware version 8.2.36 which is an interim firmware update. The device will start downloading in the background, once ready to upgrade you will see a prompt. Given that this step takes the box from Android 7 to Android 8 (major change) the box requires to be factory reset, thus backup any data you might want to hang onto. If your box is connected via Ethernet cable it will proceed automatically to the last step (if DHCP enabled), but if using Wi-Fi, you will have to connect it to your AP again before the final firmware will download. (don’t setup anything else at this stage as the box will be wiped again). Sometimes the box will boot and hangs on a “Telkom LIT” splash screen, in this event disconnect power and reconnect.

3. Upgrade to final firmware version 8.2.38 – this is the Netflix certified firmware. Again it will download in the background and give you a prompt to upgrade firmware. Again it will factory reset (due to HDCP rules).

The LIT_Box box will now be on 8.2.38 with a new layout and Netflix pre-loaded.

If the LIT_Box started with the process but did not complete it, email the Nology Help Desk on [email protected] for assistance.
Also note that enough space needs to be made available on internal storage for the firmware image to download approximately 1 GB.

Why repeat what Dolby already shared with us?

I doubt that it is possible, the version that comes with the upgrade is the base version for that version of Android.

So sorry, cannot help.

The DSTV App even updated again, it now allows to minimize the video, even allowing you to exit the app and go to home screen while minimized live tv is playing.

Really enjoying the update. Netflix is awesome now, Dstv now, great. Showmax sweet. Looks really good all round. Still have the issue of AC3 files not playing audio.
Have to reduce quality of stream then will play. But shows very blocky. I have enabled pass through, tried everything. Even ran plex Inside Kodi. But same result.

Does anyone have the same issue?

Model is A07

I think it's a feature of Android TV 8.0. So it would not have been possible on the previous version running on Android 7.12 that was on the Litbox.

Yes, with Android 8 you get "Picture in picture" mode.

Anyone know if it'd possible to get the "recent apps" screen on the new firmware? Long pressing the home button on the old firmware worked. Doesn't seem to work on the new firmware? At least I can't kill any apps. I suppose you can go settings.... Force stop but thats a mission.

That would be a bummer. I use that quite often to jump between some apps.

Also noticed this, no recent apps screen.
I used my TV remote all along so could never access it anyway but then tried the android remote from my phone and noticed it doesn't open recent apps. It just opens the screen with all apps. The app drawer.

I have ran into an issue with my litbox. Telkom has disabled my litbox remotely, and now it just shows red LEDs. Pressing the power button or remote does not turn it on, but i can see that the IR LED flickers when the remote is used. Any idea how to fix, or factory reset?
I have the same problem. please advise how to fix the fault.

My LIT does not work anymore. Blue power LEDs go on but then I just get a black screen.
Any idea on how to fix the problem. i have red lights on but cannot switch to blue. this happen after receiving software upgrade notification.

OK seems I can't cast YouTube from phone. The icon doesn't show up anymore. Anyone else have this problem?
