Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi there..
Is it possible to load any custom rom or any android rom other than androidTv on telkoms TVB-100 ?

No

Or let me say, dont bother. Rather get another box with full Android on, as those are easier to flash as they are based off tablets firmware etc

Dont mess with Android Tv, as its just a different experience

Okay, Thanks.. I have another box, Used this one to run android app i use to connect my "Keezer" to raspberry and display. But after update its giving me admin. I think Ill just invest in a cheap full android box then.

Enjoy the weekend.

What issues? You did both updates?
Some app's continuously crash, slow to detect when I insert usb device. And some app's are now missing those 3 dots ( the one normally clicks to go to app settings).

Yes did both updates... was working 100's before updates

Questions to those that received the update on A11:
1) How did you initiate the update?
2) Do you leave the box switched on all the time?
3) Those with the A07 reported that the mouse function on the IR remote from the A11 units did not work after the update. Is this still the issue?
4) How much space is required for the download? Would 1gb be sufficient?

Well, called Nology and they were kind enough to let me come through to there offices and they flashed the LIT Box for me and working 100% again. Great guys both Robin and Johan. Fantastic service from them.

Hmmm. Smells like a rat. That is too cheap. Bricked?
@Dolby Do you know about this? You had ties to the importers yes?

This silly thing is not telling me about notifications and I only saw this Gumtree thing now :/

But it's definitely not an over stock issue anywhere ... these are brought in as needed. I do have a suspicion though - can't mention it here right now :/

You should never have had to go that route. They Telkom, should do a proper job when they release updates like this. Not everybody can go through to Nology etc to get it sorted.

In the normal Android flashing/updating world, there would be detailed explanations of what to do and what not to do in the event you run into issues. A how to guide, and minimum requirements before flashing

Not a fan of these sort of things happening, without a how to guide.

how are you guys sideloading apps now on 8.0

I've tried puffin browser to download apk's but when i want to install them I get an error saying unable to parse or something along those lines

If its a parse error, then the app is not compatibale with the device or software. You might have to get an updated version of Puffin or downgrade.

I downloaded all apks on PC, copied to USB and plugged into lit box. You need a file explorer to browse the USB. Download fx file explorer from the play store.

Just made it easier for me by downloading on PC than having to navigate a web browser on the lit box.
Make sure dev options are enabled to select 'install from unknown sources'

I had some parse errors if the apk was downloaded on my phone, a Widows download worked fine.

Thanks. I think I'll do this yeah. I had chrome running prior to the update but that loophole has now been closed with the update to 8

what APKs are you running?
