Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

my experience with my volcano speaker and pairing to lit box.... does work but..i had to unpair soundbar from lit box and unpair volkano from cellphone..then they paired..ie both volkano and lit can only pair to one device at a time

NEW issue around lit box..unsure if latest upgrade (to remove netflix ) changed settings, but i find now that on switch off lit box my usb ports stay active and i need to actually unplug hard drive...how can i disable power to usb or shut lit down properly and not be in some kind of standby mode i guess

I think that's in the Power settings iirc. You get an option to change what the power button does: going into standby or else powering off.

Not anymore. After the upgrade to Android 9, that option is gone (shutdown).

That is the reason I'm angry at Nology for pushing the update to my box and forced the update on me. I was perfectly happy on Oreo.

Good day, I hope someone can help me. I was recently given a LIT box as a present. I used it for the first time in probably 2 to 3 years, it was never even used and was still brand new when I received it. I managed to update the software and all the apps. Its actually working perfectly fine with quick processing opening and closing different apps, DSTV now is working perfectly, even Truth TV is working perfectly, but, I am having a lot of issues with YouTube. In many cases I cant even get it to play the videos, and when it does, I can't stop/pause it or return to the main menu, it just freezes, and later on says the application is not responding prompting an action to wait, stop or report the issue. This is very frustrating and I do not wish to chuck this device because it can't play YouTube properly. It seems like it more an application issue than a device issue. Any advice?

Search the internet for "SmartTubeNext. Apk". Download and install it manually.

Hi Deesef. Thank you. I had to figure out how to do this since I have not really worked with third party Android apps before. Nevertheless, it seems like it is working, will test and see if it is stable on my Telkom LIT device. In the spirit of those people (like me), that does not know jack about this kind of stuff, I found this video very usefull to download and install the SmartTubeNext Apk application :

I am still troubled by the fact that the original YouTube app is not working properly, are there any other Telkom LIT users experiencing the same issue currently or in the past that managed to fix it somehow?

Thank you

Did you do full factory reset after doing all the updates, is sometimes needed.

Netflix won't work on the LIT box.
Even the method of using Kodi doesn't work any more.
I'm sitting here watching (just completed, actually) Season 5 of Outlander. In Kodi with Netflix.

Edit: I'm wondering if I sign out if that will be it? Did you sign out and in or did it kick you out.

I don't see why one would go through so much effort to use Kodi for netflix.

Folks, remember - telkom is evil - always have been always will be. Why not rid yourself of that evil and embrace a telkom free future?

Box still works fine for IPTV, Sunday School had an all-nighter, and with downloaded material, and streamed a few flix, for the very late nighters fine.
