Hi, im using pop3.telkomsa.net and smtp.telkomsa.net yet I cant seem to send\recieve mail , on a 1gig telkom dsl account.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.telkomsa.net', Server: 'smtp.telkomsa.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

that message keeps popping up in outlook express, any ideas?

Thanks
J

Before doing the portforwarding shufty, try the following :

telnet pop3.telkomsa.net 110

and also

telnet smtp.telkomsa.net 25

you should be able to see the mail server's banner if the telnet works.

If telnet fails, then something else's blocking port 25 and 110, your best bet then is to check if your antivirus/firewall is interfering with these.

Was it working before?

I found while setting up a DSL the other day I could receive mail but not send it. The telkom guy told me to use smtp.telkomsa.net

I kept getting relaying errors using this server so I setup smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net and it worked fine.

Ditto on the above - if you can't manually make the connection its on your PC/Router.

I use mail.saix.net as outgoing server. Normally solves the problem.

Its the same server :)

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: smtp.saix.net
Address: 196.25.240.94
Aliases: smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net

Thanks, it seems smtp.telkomsa.net only works for dialup , smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net worked fine.

Thanks
J

0E is normally Anti Virus mail scanners so might wanna try disabling yours (if any), restarting pc and trying again.
