Went to Northgate on Saturday to apply for the Unlimited Mobile offer.
Filled out all forms and handed in the damnable intrusion of privacy which they required in the way of documentation.
Got a call this morning saying my application had been declined by Telkom, as "there was something wrong" with my ID number.
Now, I have banked with that number, had numerous cellphone accounts, clothing accounts, internet accounts with it. I have even voted with that number like a good SA citizen.
And now they tell me there is "something wrong" with it?
I might add here that I've always had an excellent credit record, so that is definitely not the problem.
I now need Telkom to document exactly what is "wrong" with my ID number- in writing, please - as I need to open a case of Identnity theft or Identity Fraud at the Douglasdale Police station.
But do you think they even answer their phones? Hear that hollow ring!
I feel right now that I've probably been granted a blessing in that I've missed having to deal with a clearly fraud-enabling company for two years...but I still need their cooperation with the criminal investigation I am starting.
