How's this,

Upload: 1 mb/s
Was getting 30mb/s at times but there is something wrong and Telkom seem incompetent to fix it despite logging complaints. If you don't like being robbed then probably stay away from Telkom's Unlimited LTE.

This isn't a fault. You're being throttled to 256Kb/s because you've gone over 250GB.
 
Guys whats the difference with the band speeds ? which is the most stable , reliable and fast ? can we lock on and stay on a set band frequency ?

1800MHz Band 3 is the most common band in SA. It's on most cellphones too and is being used by Telkom,MTN and Vodacom.

1800MHz Band 3 with Telkom has limited spectrum available so download speeds will be 30Mbps to 40Mbps max with upload speeds of 10Mbps or so with good signal. This band penetrates buildings better. This band is used by cellphones too so could get congested.

2300MHz band 40 is Telkoms main baby. They have decent amount of spectrum on this band pushing LTE speeds of 80Mbps+ on LTE and over 100Mbps on LTE-A. Upload speed generally between 6Mbps to 8Mbps. This band is what Telkom use for their fixed LTE users capped, uncapped and prepaid.

Now which one is better? For me I find that 1800MHz band 3 has a better latency lower and much more stable where 2300MHz is the speedster. I get over 80Mbps on this band but latency is slightly higher like 20ms or so higher.

If you use an external antenna that is supplied with the uncapped deal that antenna works best with 2300MHz but also works well with the 1800MHz band.

Telkom is now pushing 1800MHz band 3 LTE to most if not all their 3G towers that do not have LTE so you will see that the coverage map might show no LTE coverage at all but a quick test with a router will show you do indeed have LTE.

Check the coverage map for Telkom 3G coverage and you can get a very speculative 1800MHz coverage map for 1800MHz LTE.

I have the uncapped sim and when I upload and game I switch to the 1800Mhz but most of the time I'm on 2300MHz band because you just can't beat that 10MB/s downloading. :)

Easiest way is to use the toolbox to change between bands and when changing you do not need to reboot you router.
