Telkom Mobile MultiSIM launched

10 gig promo you continue paying R199 pm for life even after the contract term has elapsed unless you cancel it.
No. Read your contract. After the promotional contract period it will be charged at going rate for internet 5. can't remember exactly but I think it was R699 of worse. That package is no longer offered but they do have the 10+10@R299.

because they are obviously there to nail you when you forget or someone else is using one of the other cards and doesn't realise the bundle is depleted (main target in my view). Why have two rates - think about the likely scenarios and how they can make money out of these. Remember once you are on a service like this where you have a group now tied in it is not as simple to shift to another provider (mainly hassle and convenience).

I can bet you are not on 8ta..... If you deplete you bundles you get asked whether you want to continue surfing using out of bundle rates.

No according to the call centre agents at 8ta... I even asked the manager on duty who confirmed that the difference will be that the contract will be on month to month but the cost will remain at R199 pm unless you cancel it. Please contact them and confirm for yourself.

That's is what I was told too

Unlike on other networks, you can check your balances in real time. So if check your minutes before a call, you won't go over. For data bundles, they pause your internet until you choose an option to continue. I don't see how much more you need to protect you?

Also, I would never give a multiSIM to a family member or friend unless I could trust them. This service makes more sense for people with more than one device, like a tablet, 3G dongle and a smartphone.

I'm considering getting a contract with a Galaxy S4, adding one of these new multiSIMs, then buying a 60GB + 60GB bundle on the contract. I'll never have to worry about the S4 running out of data (I have good Telkom network coverage at home and at work) and I can use the 60GB for my regular internet needs on my 3G router.

Can't do that on Vodacom.

Actually, you can.

You can tie up to 4 data SIMs to either your voice or data contact and all 5 eat from the same data bundle.

^ actually you can't :p
Vodacom doesn't have the 60Gb + 60Gb bundle :)

But you can bundle up all of Vodacom's delicious offerings and enjoy their network

OK, but then why have different rates for the different SIMs? I can't see a technical reason, so I have to go with the business case which is to eek some extra cash out of you. Example:

I am on my tablet using SIM 2, I run out of bundle. Now I need to go online or I am in a hurry and don't have time to mess about with buying a new bundle so I burn through high data rates.

If you are on the 10GB R199 deal and add more sims can you buy add-on bundle top-ups when you use it all up?

I just want them to keep it simple. 1 rate for all the SIMs, be able to use my bundle across all of them.

Ive waited almost 2 years for this , went into my local store early May to ask again and was told, "on the 20th May it would be launched" Ive since been back 4 times ( beacuse you cant phone a Telkom store , they dont have a telkom line for public to call ??) and each time im told to wait and recently , "its on the system but it doesnt work so they not activating Sim cards" ??

Come on , a Moc launch to may us more upset !!! All this hype and talk , does anyone have it working ????

You are correct. My contract expired 2 months ago, and I am still paying R199/month.

Anyone know if something similar is available for MTN? (probably not :()

Yep, my contract expired about 8 months ago, and I am still paying R199/month.

Does multisim work on the new 50gb contracts. Local telkom shop says no but can't tell me how multisim actually works
