Telkom mobile network down

Just imagine somewhere someone is trying to call for an Ambulance, Police or any sort of help but can't get through.

Unacceptable!

People are posting that there phones show that emergency calls can still be made.
 
Maybe it's the battery theft surge.

Update. Seems that only certain parts of the country is back online

East London and Cape Town back online

Shows Emergency calls only on my side and 112 does not work at all tried restarting device many times. Everyone at work on Telkom not working.
 
Everything was fine for me until a few minutes ago. My SIM just died. No service.
 
Gosh....such bad timing. I am porting 6 lines from Telkom tonight for one of my business customers and they got really upset saying I did something and now their Telkom sims dont work and their Vodacom sims are not working yet either. I was looking for answers because ports only start going through from 18:00 every day. Sjoe....sent her a mail now and said it is a Telkom issue on their network and completely unrelated to the ports I am doing for them tonight.

Unable to make or receive calls as well. Got a mini heart attack and thought my sim card got cloned or something.

Ha ha . I had the same. My first reaction was to check my bank account. Of course the app didn't work.

First since of a problem was actually at about 8.10, when I lost partial functionality.
 


Both Vodacom and Telkom experienced network outages on Friday morning as prolonged load shedding take a toll at cellular towers.

When power to cellular towers is cut off, battery back-up kicks in - but Vodacom told Business Insider SA that these offer limited power and will eventually also fail.

Telkom, which has an agreement to roam on Vodacom’s network, said load shedding is affecting the network towers' back-up support.

It has gotten worse for me I cant even make phone calls anymore. They are roaming me to vodacom but still cannot make phone calls

If you take the SIM out it will probably work.
