Telkom negotiating triple-play partnership

Yes, Telkom has installed 10 Mbps ADSL speeds in 3 of their 3000 exchanges - real progress. It is just another carrot !

*Yawn*!

I know you should be comparing apples with apples, but in the UK, they are so far ahead when it comes to ADSL its not even funny. My friend has like a 20mbit line uncapped for like R200.00 via British Telecom.

Now, Vodacom already havea LTE test site up and running achieving realistic speeds of about 30mbit. Here Telkom comes with its little trial of 10mbit. Shame!

Also, howcome Telkom have not come up with a nice uncapped solution like the other SP's? If Mweb can do it, why not Telkom? tsk tsk tsk.

Yeah read that one. Gave me a headache and made me cross eyed!

I spoke to a friend of mine that now has a Mweb 4mbit uncapped account. I asked him what it s like and he said its the best thing that has ever happened to him. It is super dooper fast and the amounts of gigs that he is downloading is just mind boggling. I asked him about rumours I have heard on mybb that Mweb is shaping and throttling the uncapped accounts to death, and he said you can choose to pay a little extra and then they do not shape you....but you have to ask for it.

Thats why I am saying...if Mweb can do it, why not Telkom?

And with WACS fast on its way, I wonder what that will do to ADSL and 3G pricing. (Vodacom is a main shareholder in WACS) so it should be interesting.

Maybe due to the fact that telkom still makes money even if we take ADSL lines from ISP's and maybe due to the fact that telkom still gets money from the coper that Seacom is routed over in SA and maybe due to the fact that telkom still charge a connection fee to connect to their network from every ISP and what else?
O yes then there is the Line rental thingy as well to pay to Telkom before we can even think of having ADSL.

Telkom smiles all the way........ Why bother about speed, we have a huge need for the internet so the speed might be an issue for some, but in general they see the "some" as colatteral damage as they do'nt have enough influance ont the total picture to be of a concern to Telkom at all.

Whaaat??!

Yeah, this ain't it. Lets be patient. I still think it will be made closer to month end.

I must say that I am also disappointed with the announcement this morning. Since Reuben took over at Telkom there have been no ADSL price cuts and no real improvements to the service. Maybe he says something later today during his presentation, but the SENS announcement is not what I expected.
