This is actually a good thing what if Telkom upgrades a core router during the WC and the whole network goes down. How stupid will SA look then?
Trust me, it requires an act of god to make changes to a core router in 'normal' times. You will NOT be allowed to touch that router doing the freeze unless it's failure/maintenance related. In normal time the parperwork required to make a change usually takes longer than the actual job itself and the window you are given to perform the work in is very small & in the wee hours![]()
Telkom calms concerns about poor service levels during its ‘network freeze period’
I asked Telkom to upgrade my line speed from "Fast" to "Fastest" about 2 weeks ago. Still waiting.....
Guess it will only happen after the WC?
It is possible that they ran out of port capacity, which would mean another DSLAM, which means a network change. The feedback you got could be right.
Hmm, so what about the upgrading to 10Mbit in June?? Is that still happening?

Is anyone else, for various reasons, starting to really hate FIFA?![]()
Ive been on the boycott of the FIFA World Cup for months. FIFA operates like a damn country and have more rights than South Africans.
I don't want to go off on a tangent.
As for Telkom - More of what you get when Government Runs the Show.
Don't expect improvements.
In my opinion, South African Gauvament has basically rented South Africa to FIFA for a month.
