My landline was finally installed today! \:D/
So I go over to a telkom direct shop to apply for ADSL (screw your hour long queues through the call center).
I ask to apply for the "trial based", "obligation free" ADSL as advertised.
The sales rep insisted I had to sign a 24 month contract.
There was no one else in the shop I could talk to.
Clear Water branch.

What is this utter crap that they advertise as "obligation free"?
I will be taking this as far as I can.

Useless...

I did it through the call centre. No one called me with reference number afterwards. I assume the shop will be the same.

Then I did it through the website and they phoned me and I should get a reference number in 48 hours and then techie to ask when install date is to be.

There is no need to sign the contract if your a "FIRST TIME'' adsl subscriber. Pop in to the shop in Canal Walk Cape Town (If In Cape Town)

Email the applications to [email protected] (Manager Canal Walk)

I am sure the adsl will be sorted - Absolute No Brainer Awesome Deal.

I have checked myself its free no contract needed thing is tho i think you do have to keep the phone line after but adsl is free for the first 3 months prob going to take u like 1 to 2 months to get the adsl tho lol

The special was announced the day I had my line installed. I applied over the phone for the promo and got a text a week later saying the ADSL had been activated. Went to a Telkom Direct shop, picked up the modem, signed up for Afrihost's R1 uncapped deal and was able to finally put my 3G modem away.
