I like to know how a naked 4mb ADSL line here @ 700 odd rand is cheaper than a 50mb Uncapped with ISP @ 25 pounds account in the UK ???

They are full of it, reading an article on dsl pricing, the UK is among the more expensive in the world...

Just a quick hop and a skip onto virginmedia.com, you can get 50Mb broadband for R381 p/m including phone line (unlimited downloads) free router, unlimited online storage, free install of line and service... I mean really who are they kiddin?!
 
Does anyone have an email for one of the Big shots at telkom? Would really love to just email them every single thread related to Telkom, so they can see for themselves how useless they are and how much everyone hates them. It probably wouldnt matter anyway, but who knows.

Five years ago my Telco in Spain (Telefonica) had to activate my line for ADSL and no additional charge was made.

When I moved to SA in 2006, I was staggered to find out that on top of my line rental, I would have to pay extra for Telkom to enable ADSL on the line!

Wind the clock forward to April 2011 and they are still charging. Sorry - this is not competitive in my eyes, but doubtless Telkom shareholders are happy.

tell you what telkom, once you start offering prices in the brackets of cellc and afrihost, then I'll believe.

Otherwise I vote with my wallet. Pity about the local loop though.

It is called soft gloves for corporates; as MyBB sucks up to them, just in case they never get an interview again - haven't you noticed? (like most of the"journalists" [typists] in this country)

They will only ask the hard questions when the tide has turned.
 
Talk is cheap, anyone with a bit between the ears knows that. Here's how you prove that you are not profiteering:

1. Declare your interest and profits on Sat3 (less relevant now thanks to Seacom but entertaining nonetheless).
2. Plead with your shareholders (ANC *cough*) to allow LLU.

Actually I just posted for fun, I don't expect Telkom actually listens. Just like most people don't hear when you say nice things about yourself.

What happened in Uganda those years ago, I think I bumped into two of your sales execs at the Sheraton in Kampala a few years back, did they see through the mist and kick you into touch? Aah, what am I asking, it's not like you listen anyhow.
 
What a complete idiot!! Fire this fool!! Firstly, let's see some stats for 2011, not 2009! And secondly, who is telkom competing with in the adsl market? There are no real competitors out there.
 
Well I just moved from SA to the US and I can confirm that Telkom prices are certainly not competitive in relation to what we get here.

I currently pay $39.99 for FiOS (Fiber to home) connectivity and I get 50Mb down and 35Mb up speeds.
Even with a 7:1 conversion ratio, that means I'm paying less than R280.

Last time I checked, PhD stood for "Permanent Head Damage", and it seems to be the case here.
