Did you actually read that article? I know all about it but where has Telkom made an actual offer to any industry player and followed through with it? Talk is cheap.
Still not aware of any actual offer.
Show me any that are aware of it.

Been thinking about this story and something is missing...
Randfontein (RRF) is a DSSU, meaning that several other smaller exchanges (concentrators) link to it before breaking out to a DPSU (New Doornfontein, I think).
Within RRF you have several exchanges (or remotes): Azaadville, Bekkersdal, Finsbury, Glen Harvie, Hillshaven, Kagiso, Libanon, Pelzvale, Randfontein, Rikasrus, Ten Acres DLU, Wheatlands, Waterpan and Westonaria.
This is not a "mickey mouse" exchange... in total there are around 10 000 customers working off this group of exchanges, of which RRF itself has about a third of them. You are also looking at close to 1500 ADSL residential customers and about 1000 business ADSL customers.
So what exactly is Telkom switching off? Something is not making sense here.

More seriously I really hope they get some kind of guaranteed last mile bandwidth thing going where it is similar to the ADSL model. It would be nice to get decent data volumes and decent prices, not have to switch to mobile pricing

No further attempts by Telkom to contact us
I haven't heard of anyone else getting (or taking) their offer to switch to wireless
ADSL is still running fine(knock on wood)
Looking at the Telkom ADSL checker, our line still shows ADSL is still available and even an upgrade from 4 to 10Mbps is available

Even here in Greenhills, the telkom website says 10megs adsl available, but trust me i have tried, there is nothing better than 2 megs here.
