I had to laugh today out of sheer exasperation. I rang Telkom to log a fault about slow DSL this week and severe latency + some disconnects (unusual for me).

Instead of noting the complaint and giving me a reference number, the operator tried to transfer me to the sales department to sell me a faster line.

I politely requested he call a supervisor whereupon he briskly cut me off.

Apparently they've now also chopped the complaints line and you have to write in instead.

Dumb and dumber imho.

You should have dialed again so you could speak to someone else. There's an idiot there that doesn't know is job. A few months back I called to change my line from 1mbps to 4mbps since I was paying for (upto) 4mbps, told the idiot to increase the speed but he said he can't do it and that I must called the sales dept for an upgrade, I tried explaining that its on the upto 4mbps and that he need to increase the speed, not the sales dept, then he cut the call. I called back again he answered, when he heard it was me he cut the call again, so I called back the third time and was put through to someone else who sorted it out.

True -- do not base your conclusions on ONE experience.:)

Unfortunately so much DEAD WOOD & MALEMA clones at Telkom -- and they mostly seem to be on the "help" lines.

I generally find the Telkom Direct shops to be a different kettle of fish ( barracouta -- not -- snoek ) :D -- ALWAYS helpful

Yeah maybe it was a temp or a new person who is uninformed. Calling back a bit later helps.

was this while they were on strike lol we had someone come and install a line and then there was no line but on telkoms side he had marked it as complete but we had no line. 2 weeks down the line we got all 4 our lines that was suppose to be done all at once
