Hi,
I have a FreeMe 20gb contract and live in an area (super remote) with no Telkom Towers. Only Vodacom and MTN.
My problem is this , when i have my phone on all the normal settings, that is that the sim must auto connect and no data roaming , as you would when you live in a populated place with all the towers my phone connects to Telkom R Stay Home and i have H or 3G. All good.
However , after a short while it kicks me off and then i am connected to Vodacom - TelkomSA with no data connectivity and a message appears on my phone (android 9) which states YOU HAVE LOST DATA CONNECTIVITY BECAUSE YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR HOME NETWORK WITH DATA ROAMING TURNED OFF.
Ok, so now i switch on DATA ROAMING and restart my phone. Now it connects to Vodacom - Telkom SA with a R above the signal bars and EDGE connectivity , however this only lasts a few seconds and then edge connectivity disappears and i am only left with a sad looking R in the top corner.
Ok , so now i go into MOBILE NETWORKS , NETWORK OPERATORS, search networks manually , and the following list is available :
1. Vodacom RAT : GSM
2. VODACOM RAT : LTE
3. 65505 : RAT WCDMA
I connect to 65505 and then i have TELKOM R - STAY HOME with H or 3G.
This is only way i can get a table H/3G connection.
But when i now move around the farm and i go from one Vodacom tower to the next it sometimes wont connect to 65505 and i have to redo this process manually again.
When telkom was on MTN i had no issues like this. But it has been a while now that we roam on Vodacom and this issue persists.
Does someone have a possible solution for me please?
