Telkom slashes ADSL and FTTH prices

Was investigating getting a Fibre only line from Web Africa and then adding data from various ISP's the other day.

This is what I came up with.

Excludes R1749 once off installation.
No fee WIFI router.

Edit ... WA made error in email. 20mbps is R639.00 / month.

I must say, so far the IPC price cuts haven't resulted in much good around these parts. Afrihost in their quest to gain market share used to be the first mover which spurred everyone else into action, but since then it's been rather boring.

Hopefully next month is better.

So do Uncapped Basic is cheaper than do Basic, what am I missing?

So there is almost zero reduction? WTF

do Basic 10GB, up to 2Mbps R404 to R399 = 1,24% down
do Advanced 20GB, up to 4Mbps R580 to R549 = 5.34% down
do Premium 50GB, up to 10Mbps R699 to R699 = 0%
do Elite 50GB, up to 20Mbps R786 to R799 = 1.65% UP
do Elite Plus 100GB, up to 40Mbps R1024 to R999 = 2.44% down

And none of these change?
do Uncapped Basic Up to 2Mbps R394 R394
do Uncapped Advance Up to 4Mbps R585 R585
do Uncapped Premium Plus Up to 10Mbps R999 R999
do Uncapped Elite Up to 20Mbps R1,598 R1,598
do Uncapped Elite Plus Up to 40Mbps R2,398 R2,398

They can keep their "reduction", buy some pineapples and shove them up their CEO's ass.

There is no limit on Afrihost Capped except for the congestion, this was posted a while ago as an update. It works on 100Mbps.
You can't really compare 60GB daytime /240GB nighttime to 300GB anytime. Should be more a comparison between a 60GB Webafrica and a 100GB Afrihost or something like that.
Night-time data is quite useless for anyone who streams or doesn't like having their PC/laptop run overnight.

It is based on what their website says.

My requirements are different. Big caps are more important to me, irrespective of times.

I hope their Do Advance doesn't replace the Telkom Simple 4mbps that I am on. If it does my prices go up by R50/month

Saw the headline and got excited. Then read the article and title should have read "Telkom announces no change'

I went into the article with excitement and came out disappointed

I would love to see the internal business case for those changes - how much thought went into user research and innovation. If only I could spend a day with that product team ...
