When is it happening?

I am currently on a 10mb line with a 4mb uncapped account. So I wouldn't mind downgrading to a 2mb line just before the upgrade, should be a nice saving.

I'm sure in some areas they are in effect already, my line is sitting at near 10mb sync and managing to hit about 800kb/s on my torrents on a '4mb' account

This is going to be fun. I'm either getting a 4Mbps line, or saving a lot of money. Here is to hoping I can touch 4Mbps.

I've just ordered a 1mbps Telkom line and uncapped internet - hoping I'll get bumped to 2mbps soon

It's already been started in some towns.
Certain more affluent neighbourhoods will get it first or have already received it according to Telkom.

I'm in the same boat, I'm 6 km away from an exchange which can handle 10 Mbps. Only hope my UMC get upgraded from STM-1 to MSAN or ISAM.

STM-1 refers to line speed/circuit whereas umc,msan,isam is equipment.

LOL it is only starting from 11 November - so expect it to happen perhaps next year due to holidays and shut down during the December period
