Telkom Speed upgrades

called now. was on hold for over 20 minutes before giving up. Sent TelkomZA a PM on Tuesday. No response either.

Telkom. Same as putting shiny new wheels on piece of crap car. What you get is a piece of crap car with shiny wheels.
 
My account is on a 10MB profile, but local infrastructure in Jeffreys Bay can only support 4MB, despite the fact the hardware inside the exchange itself is 10MB capable.

Instead of downgrading to the 2/up-to-4 account, I'm going to stay grandfathered into the account I'm already paying for. Its about R880 a month and when the infrastructure does get upgraded this year sometime, I'll be bumped up to 10MB but saving about R300 in the process.
 
Still waiting for the upgrade to 10meg in FOURWAYS. Called Telkom and was told that "all 4 to 10 upgrades were completed, but mine was not done as yet :wtf:" 011469 area. My exchange and line is 10 meg capable according to the line checker so I'm not sure what the problem is, the lady from Telkom faults reporting had no clue on dates or reasons for my delay.

That line checker's about as accurate as a crystal ball when it comes to telling you your line speeds. You might just not be 10meg capable. I have the same problem at work.
 
Had that problem as well: I called Telkom this morning after I found out that my 1mbps adsl line speed have not been upgraded to 2mbps, I asked the consultant to please reset my line and Walla, 2mbps line done and that after they said my line has errors and I can't upgrade. Call and do a line reset.

Says my area is 2Mbps but in reality it's still plodding along at 1Mbps or just under!

Got upgraded this week. Double the line speed but only 20% increase in the actual download speed? wtf?
