Telkom Speed upgrades

Oh, that answers that, your Account upgrade is with OW, not TI, TI is refusing to do anymore upgrades, and saying we must wait for the Techs to do it at the exchange.

yip this is sad.. just yesterday at 8:30PM i noticed on checkadsl my line now shows 4MB, i was 30minutes late by calling them, and now this morning they refuse to switch accounts over now and need to wait for those Techs to-do so.

So ... today is the 18th. No upgrade from 4 Mbps to 10 Mbps. Checker says profile upgraded ... but exchange limited to 4 Mbps and line syncs at 4 Mbps.

Whats the point of the upgrade? Nothing's changed.

Downgrade to the 'old" 2mbps.... You pay less and still get 4mbps.

That is what I'm going to do. Telkom can't seem to get my line to sync higher than 3mbps at the moment even though the call center and website indicates that I am capable of 10mbps

Anyone try this I found?

Perform a Line Sync/Port Reset

From time to time your ADSL service may drop out and you may be asked to perform a line sync/port reset. To perform a line sync/port rest:

Remove the power cable from your ADSL modem
Unplug your ADSL modem from the phone socket at the wall
Disconnect any telephones or fax machines also connected to the line (this step is optional, but recommended)
Wait 12 minutes (make sure you use a timer)
Reconnect your ADSL modem to the phone socket at the wall
Reconnect the power cable to your ADSL modem
Wait 5 minutes to ensure your modem has turned on, and confirm if your internet is now working
Reconnect any telephones or fax machines you had disconnected, and be sure to use an ADSL filter

Anyone know if this works? I would like to test it when i get home, or else i'll need to call telkom again and hope i get lucky as well for someone to-do a port reset for me.

My Afrihost speed was WAY slow last night with intermittent timeouts, so I tried the "fix my line" tool on a whim. Sync went up to 4Mbps after that.

Well i'm not in SA at the moment but I downgraded my line to 2MB last week and it was syncing at 2MB, checked it remotely this morning and it's syncing @ 4MB - so looks like Telkom are doing their thing - my line is with AH.

I went to Telkom Direct to upgrade from 1mb to 2mb. This morning Telkom phoned to confirm that my line has been automatically bumped to 4mb.

Currently paying 224.25 for a 4mb line. We've come a long way.
