Telkom Speed upgrades

I know it sounds simple, but if ur ADSL not performing as best as it should be, try replacing the telephone cable between wall outlet and router :)
mine was working fine (apart from not getting full speed as per what the line is supposed to be) but after replacing the tel cable with new, got instant speed boost :)

Anyone try this I found?

Perform a Line Sync/Port Reset

From time to time your ADSL service may drop out and you may be asked to perform a line sync/port reset. To perform a line sync/port rest:

Remove the power cable from your ADSL modem
Unplug your ADSL modem from the phone socket at the wall
Disconnect any telephones or fax machines also connected to the line (this step is optional, but recommended)
Wait 12 minutes (make sure you use a timer)
Reconnect your ADSL modem to the phone socket at the wall
Reconnect the power cable to your ADSL modem
Wait 5 minutes to ensure your modem has turned on, and confirm if your internet is now working
Reconnect any telephones or fax machines you had disconnected, and be sure to use an ADSL filter

Tried this but my router is still syncing at 2Mbps instead of 4Mbps.

just tried my luck at something this morning at about 11:00am, and what do you know... Sorted, my line has been upgraded, and is now syncing at 4096Kbs, so im sorted... Ran a speedtest, and getting Download speed of 396Kbps... HEHEHEHEHE... Will post a speed test tonight, not at home, Teamviewed in to confirm this....

TelkomZA you rock!! Again!

TelkomZA told me on twitter they couldn't help me as the process is automated.

It seems my previous 2Mb/s line has been upgraded, although I have very high pings, and not even 3Mb/s achieved in my latest speedtest.net result

Spill it? Think I have to PM you.

Edit: Seems like my Line dropped, but still syncing at the same speed.

My ADSL went down too...

My internet is down, they said when I phoned that there is a scheduled maintenance on the DSLAM. Could this mean upgrades?

Managed to get my 2meg line profile changed to 4meg by calling Telkom; consultant was not willing to do it as she said the process is automated; I spoke really nicely to her and asked in a very pleasant manner; she reset my profile from 2meg to 4med; yay now synching at 4 meg.

Trick is to really ask nicely and be persistent.
