This is very unfair from Telkom.....

My exchange does not support higher than 4Mbps speeds.... I have been on 4Mbps for about 4 years now.

Paying quite a lot for my 4Mbps and I can't have 10Mbps yet cause the exchange is not upgraded yet...... Now all the 2Mbps people are bumped up to 4Mbps.... So why exactly am I still paying the higher price when 2Mbps now getting the same for less...... I called for a downgrade to 2Mbps offering and they refused cause they say I am on 4Mbps now so it will be the same.... duh but the price is not... Sigh very frustrated with Telkom right now.

You will pay the new tariff that was the old 2Mbps tariff...

Well I'm syncing at this:

dsl.PNG

That is supposed to be 10Mbps since I'm on a 1Gbps exchange, like 2Km from my house.

And I'm only getting this (I downgraded from a 10Mbps to 4Mbps a while ago, and got above 10Mbps on speedtest back then, same physical line):

Are you sure cause my profile is the Up to 10Mbps and not the Up to 4Mbps.... That means I will stay on my current pricing until they upgrade my exchange and then I will get the 10Mbps.

I need to downgrade my package but they didn't want to until the "upgrades" are done..... Now this will simply make me pay December for a Up to 10Mbps and won't be able to get it when I could have saved some money by just paying for the Up to 4Mbps service.....

Since you are now on the 10Mbps package after the upgrade (even though you can't utilize it), it seems you'll have to wait yeah. I don't think they'll handle any up/downgrades until all the upgrades are done...

Yeah which is a bit unfair for the people that can't get 10Mbps because our profiles are on the 10Mbps but can't get it yet. So basically the 2Mbps guys have the best deal right now. I just think as a paying customer for 4 years it doesn't make sense why telkom will low blow me like this.

Insist on the downgrade then. They're simply advising you on the downgrade, they can't refuse it afaik...

Yeah I guess I will..... Can you imagine how many people will be paying more than what they should cause of this. I know for a fact that very small towns will most likely not get 10Mbps. So they will be paying the higher rate for nothing....

I stay in a town with relatively good amount of people and picking up 6 wifi signal just near my house but our exchange is stuck @ 4Mbps.

I don't think that it's malicious on their part at all, nor intentional. I think the woman on the phone was simply not fully understanding your issue properly. The "up to" part probably confuses them too...

Well I can't tell you exactly where, the person who told me is held responsible for the info he shares, but it's in Pretoria a few Km's from the University of Pretoria's Hatfield campus, heading towards the Wonderboom area...

EDIT: Lol I see your from PE, so yeah, Pretoria...

Alright sweet.. called Telkom again the guy told me the same as the lady this morning that a port reset won't help and my profile is still on 2MB though, but then i asked him to put me on the 4MB Profile and he did, now the question are will i be paying more now since i asked for the upgrade myself? or will the 4MB profile be the same amount as the 2MB when i get my telkom bill now.
