Excellent news that Telkomonopoly decided to back down from the desert sand-dune which was fast erroding under their feet...

Well done MaD - you're a man of courage & conviction :).

Great job Hellkom!!!

Looks like Telkom didn't want the bad PR which would have landed them up in the media (too bad on that count), especially with all the stuff going on with ICASA.

I was also wondering about that too. New CEO doing a bit of damage control, but I don't think so.
Telkom just did not have a case. End of story.
I hope they learn something from this, although in the short term I doubt it.

Trusting Telkom, I am sure they will want to capitalise on this and try and make themselves out to be the good guys and feign that it was the Logos that they were concerned about all along and not the content of Hellkom.
Time will tell.

Even though Telkom never had a case to begin with, I admire your determination and hard work.

Just to bad the owner of www.telkomsucks.co.za did not fight Telkom.
not true - telkom sent the same letter to andrew and he had basically an identical one to the hellkom reply sent back to them

telkom chose not to proceed vs telkomsucks prolly because not as high profile as hellkom with less manipulation of the logo (precious intellectual property)

I guess they realised that making themselves look stupid over and over again is a bad strategy? :D

Strategic Reasons: Most people don't know/realize that telkom is bad, if this got media attention, people would realize that they were actually bad.

Another reason might be that Laugh it Off's Justin Nurse won his case against SAB a little while ago. Sets the table for telkom to recieve the same beating.

Cheers, Nick

Congrads MaD, and my appologies for doubting your use of Helkom donations. I guess you made me look like a moron too.

So who are you donating the money to? I'd advise against slimothy's sore tummy...

Hey Gregg while you're at it, you know how when you're transferring/ scanning files and that little graphic thingie comes up it has the one PC on the left and the other one on the right and there's that little image of the file as it flies across the screen between the two PC's?

I want to see a spinning globe on the left Telkom in the middle and an SA PC on the right, the little file flies really fast from the spinning globe into Telkom logo and then crawls/limps/drags itself really slowly (like the duck logo in cricket) to the SA PC.

Canyadoit?? puleez
