Telkom system failure

Isn't this sort of thing normal for Telkom? I would've assumed it was. Telkom has never been one of the "on the ball" companies. It still has that government mentality.

At least the internet (mine) seems to not be affected (LTE)

The website seems to be back up, but it is very slow... :(

Have been with them from the beginning, but thinking about porting now.

This failure and lack of communication clearly shows they are not too concerned about their business, which affects thousands.

Article updated with a statement from Telkom. The problems were attributed to a hardware outage.

My LTE is LTE'ing. Haven't had a hassle here in EL at all.... but I haven't had to use the call center yet.

Telkom is now at least trying to make amends by giving customers 1GB of free data that is valid for the next two days.

A lot of customers actually demanded this from them on Twitter, as is the custom here. #senseofentitlement

Telkom is actually very good on this front.

A few years ago I had noise on my landline (didn't affect my ADSL) for around a total of 10 days.

On my next bill I saw a reduction of R100 odd & queried this with them & they said it was due to the above.

I was pleasantly surprised seeing by this.

This outage was probably caused by something stupid, like Telkom not paying their bills again... Not that they'd ever release a statement like that.

And your ignorance about how things work is unbelievable!
ALL ISPs have been affected in one way or another over the last few days, because ALL ISPs are dependent on the same network infrastructure. Vodacom access in Brackenfell CT has been very bad with plenty of connectivity drops.
A small bit of research showed what the problem was and why making a big noise about it would not help.

Are you for real???
I guess you just don't know sarcasm when you hear or read it. Don't feel bad, most people can but some can't. It's not your fault.

Emails still down

Many of my cutomers email are down since Friday, and it is STILL down.
They cannot send or receive emails.
HOW are you suppose to function if your emails are not working, and you are running a business.

All systems has been restored???

WHAT did Telkom restore?

Just asking....

Most of the time when I call a Telkom number from a Telkom phone, just completely NOTHING happens.
This happened from my landline, and THREE DIFFERENT cellphones with Telkom simcards, dial a Telkom number, and nothing....
This happened a FEW times in emergencies. Why do you have a phone, if it is not working when you need it??
Telkom will say maybe, oh it is only related to Nokia 5. LOL
Their WHOLE network is crashing.
They don't do maintenace, or preventative maintenace. Wait till the WHEEL FALLS OUT, THEN and only then we will fix it.....

Free 1 gig data But only for 2 days ? What a joke Telkom, can't even give people anything without a string attached to it. Bunch of Losers!

Working? You're the eternal optimist.

Ordered a FreeMe 1GB contract upgrade on Telkom Online on Thursday night; Telkom phoned me back on Friday to confirm and do credit check; the handset and multiSIM were couriered from Spartan JNB to CPT over the weekend and delivered to me by CourierIT this morning.

I have multisims, none of them can make calls since this crap. Since it's a month-to-month, I walked to the store and cancelled it!!!!
