Ok, so have struggled with the Telkom service levels for two years now with ADSL.
Yesterday was a low point. My 4mb/s line has dropped to 0.30/kb/s and i phone them to reset the port.
They do this but no go. So I register a fault.
Two technicians - who are more interested in what car i drive than to do their job - turn up.
Their answer is - there is too much noise on the line - you are 3.98km from the nearest exchange so we can do nothing
They shrug their shoulders and say to me either I accept it or cancel my line. No looking if they can improve the situation.
And the irony is reading my broadband later in the day that Telkom have rolled out their 20mb/s and 40mb/s exchanges, and one of them sits less than 1km from me. But who knows when it will become operational.

So thats my rant.
Anyone know which cellular service is semi decent for large amounts of data? Know i will ultimately lose out, but can't keep on with Telkom's incompetence.
No wonder they're losing fixed line customers.

I have a corporate waiting for Telkom to effect a move of their phone & ADSL services since 29 June.

The real beef is that it is impossible to get an answer as to what is happening. An ADSL guy appeared on the premises on Tuesday, didn't manage to get anything working and has since disappeared, never to be seen again. The business call centre hasn't got a clue or any record of the various orders and references.

And the deputy minister of finance doesn't understand why revenue is down.

what a sick joke.

The real beef is that it is impossible to get an answer as to what is happening. An ADSL guy appeared on the premises on Tuesday, didn't manage to get anything working and has since disappeared, never to be seen again. The business call centre hasn't got a clue or any record of the various orders and references.

Thanks for checking - I had my doubts.

A big welcome to you Telkom, I am correct in assuming you only represent ADSL infrastructure and not TI?

Iv got the same issues in Bloem. Telkom have gone to **** in the last 2 months.

Too late for me tho... cancelled my TI account... Oh! They could perhaps help with the likely billing mess :(.
I cancelled the Data Package in May... it was disabled on the 28th June... and yet I was billed for July?!??!
Apparently it will be pro-rata refunded... but trust me... the person was making no sense. Telling me I'd get 3 days pro-rata back. Why... 28th June to 1st July. Errrrr... ?!?! Anyway. Telkom Rep... I'll be needing your help soon me thinks. Welkom!
 
Must say my last 2 encounters with Telkom surprised the hell out of me. Puuuurfect service. I moved and had my ADSL line transferred to the new house, imagine my surprise when I moved in and my line was already up and running...
