You won't be able to run lower speed accounts on higher speed lines. Otherwise, why would anyone pay for more than a 384 account?
Logicaly this sounds incorrect

Lol. You can run any account on any line. The lowest speed (either line or account) will be what you actually get. Obviously there's little financial point in doing this, but I mentioned it to illustrate a point. You won't be able to run lower speed accounts on higher speed lines. Otherwise, why would anyone pay for more than a 384 account?
unrestricted internet product range tailored toward evening usage.
So you *never*, *ever* get less than 900Kbps ?
the only thing I'm afraid of, its speeds "up to 10Mbps" ... this means it could be 2mb or 3mb or 4mb etc...
LLU is really working for South Africa
I do not like the fact you have to sign a 12 month contract, most ISP's do not require you to sign a contract for Broadband for Residential access only.
i apologize...
i know about the speed throttling during daytime. what about priorities in streaming/http/p2p? are those also throttled?
Whats the throttle on the 10Mbps? Or the shaping or whatever we're calling it now.
Why what's so special about it?The 10Mbps special is the only one I would sign the contract for. The question is what happens after the 12 months are up? The other problem is you need to get down to rAge![]()
The do Gamers bundle, available only at rAge this weekend, costs R782 per month and includes line rental for Telkom’s fastest ADSL offering (“up to 10Mbps”), a 1Mbps do Uncapped account, a copy of Battlefield 3 (when it launches), and a 2TB external hard drive.

bit to unclear for my liking... not a bad deal.. seeing as all inclusive at mweb is R899pm (4mb).
Bonus items, BF3 & 2TB HDD
not to worried bout the 12month contract, but rather not if I dont know what my minimum speed will be..
The product sheet image clearly states: Do Uncapped 1Mbps (excluding landline and ADSL Rental) ...
So if I understand this right, the 1Mbps account's unrestricted local will only run at a max of 1Mbps on a 4-10Mbps line, not full line speed?During the press briefing Telkom clarified this. The rAge special covers 4Mbps ADSL rental and a 1Mbps uncapped account. This is to allow gamers to switch to capped accounts and still get full "fastest ADSL" speeds.

Throttled. It's in the article:
so effectively I`m paying R369 for a 767kbps product as apposed to R299 for 1Mbps with my current ISP...again , no thanks.
Read a few posts up. You probably won't notice anything anyway because the throttle speed is actually very close to real world speed once you factor in the overheads. Do a speed test on your existing account and compare it to the throttle speeds mentioned in the article if you're still sceptical.
Why, oh why, can they not keep it simple????
Forgot I was meant to research 4Meg line uncapped for my friend.
He currently has 4meg line, with 1000 anytime free mins (landline calls)
He wants to go uncapped on the DSL with telkom, as he prefers having the 1000mins of landline calls for he's kids that'll otherwise race up the phone bill.
Any idea of product that would suit him?
Currently he's paying R900 for the 1000mins, 4Mbps ADSL and 16GB TI cap.
From what I've been finding - TI 4Mbps Uncapped is like nearly R3k?!?!![]()
