Telkom Uncapped Problem

Gonna try update Windos, maybe by some freak chance it does something. The windows updating application is running steady at 180KB/s also...

Latest update

This morning torrents seemed to run ok. Was getting ~140KB/s, was hoping I'd get full speed since it is weekend though... is this normal for torrents to be this spiky http://i.imgur.com/CMD1Lei.png? I would imagine so but not sure?

I have tested Steam on another connection. Same thing, intermittent. No idea why, it must be the client I dunno maybe I should backup my one game I currently have fully installed and reinstall Steam. Torrents also seem fine here, but also kinda spiky like it is in the imgur link above.

A pity I only have my work laptop here as another device, have no admin rights so can't test anything on it :(

Linux livecd/usb, you can even install to a flash stick. Can boot off both types of media and it does not touch your windows install.

OK guys, reinstalled Steam. Steam downloads seem to work 100s for the time being :D So obviously a client issue. Here is is a much prettier sight http://i.imgur.com/ratvAz0.png?1 Those spikes just before the download was when watching a trailer on Steam, not sure why that was so unstable but anyhoo.

It must have just been a coincidence about the torrents also sucking super bad at the time, must have been heavily shaped at the time when trying to sort this out. I ran torrents throughout the night last night as I was only back at my flat last night, here is a report on what what I was getting http://i.imgur.com/xovRlrR.png?1. Still a lot of shaping but much better than the last time. So for the time being I'll give TI a shot. I think if I leave them before three months I have to give the router back...

But for now its ok! Thanks again for trying to help. I should have just reinstalled Steam form the beginning.

This is more worrisome for you - as it means there is most likely something wrong with your exchange. As you can see, the pings between your router and your local exchange are experiencing packet losses and high pings. Those 30's should be 10's MAX

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about that, as it is a telkom issue. My recommendation would be to report a line fault :)

EDIT: Another thing, are you using a wireless repeater? (Your router IP is 192.168.1.254, which is usually a repeater) If so, please would you try connecting your PC directly to your main modem and trying another tracert :)

Much Much better! That should solve all your problems :)

Ok so I was messing around with the download limiter. I thought that the "between hours" box had to be checked for the limiter to be active, apparently not, if there is any limit set it will then be active always, and that's how Steam seems to restrict the limit - the intermittent downloading.... I wonder if the was not the issue before.... Well at least I know now.
