Hi Folks,

Maybe the my BB community can point me in the correct direction please?
I have a TelkomSA ADSL account and am using the TelkomZA email account, all was working fine until about a month ago...was all of a sudden unable to send email to any gmail, hotmail or yahoo accounts, kept on getting the 0x80042109 error in outlook, i tried 3 different pc`s and same error. However when i login using the telkom webmail portal, it works fine - i have logged a call with Telkom - no answer or response, i have escalated it via their webiste - again no answer or response.

Does anyone have any advice as to whom i can speak to - it`s not the pc, as i tried 3 different machines, even got the guy in my it dept to check it out and it all points back to the account itself - maybe an smtp issue?

Who at Telkom can assist me with this please is their an escalation tel number perhaps?

The thing that concerns me is that you are using an isp email account in the first place.

If you followed previous posts, customers apparently will not get critical change notices if you don't use Telkom e-mail.

You don't have to actively use it for all your mail. You could also pull those mails into gmail etc.

Using any isp based mail service is not advised.

Noted, it`s actually a pensioner`s pc whom i am helping to be honest, he has all his contacts and notifications listed to email to his telkom adress, so not up to change his adress...

An example of someone trusting too much. It's well known that ISP's use their 'free' mail to hook people in and keep them subscribed. I remember Mweb mail never worked properly and people were complaining bitterly about it.

You can like above mentioned in a similar way link your Telkom Internet email that gets pulled via GMAIL or any other trusted mail service and set your email to reply from either your Ti address or Gmail address :). Not difficult to setup and works like a charm :)

If you require assistance in any way then post here or PM and we can help you out.
