Telkom upgrade 2Mbps to 4Mbps

A recent MyBB had indicates ISP's had not taken Telkom's special offer w.r.t additional IPC.

So perhaps Telkom will give us free line speed upgrades that will deteriorate service further enough to result in take-up of Telkom's offer by ISP's

Or maybe it's just wishful thinking ...

Glad I didn't wait for the free upgrade from 2Mbps to 4Mbps cause obviously I would still have been waiting :) Been enjoying my discounted 4Mbps for months now. Already thinking of upgrading to 10Mbps!

So I have 25% discount on my 2 meg line (got it when I moved houses). So paying 430 per month all inclusive (line, data, dsl). I phoned telkom to understand if this can be carried over to a 4 meg should I upgrade. This will make my total cost R563 all in. They can't even see on their system that I have 25% discount but it shows on my statement lol. So they have no clue what to do.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Got 25% of for first 3 months of my contract, then it evaporated.
Telkom know how to get you into a 24 month contract. They don't know how to make sure you stay after the 24 months are up.
My 24 months end, end November so in 4 months time I am going to say Bye Bye ...

So update from my side. Had 25% discount on 2 meg line. Called into telkom and asked if same can be applied to my 4 meg line if I upgrade - lady had no clue and said I need to go into shop... Hung up the phone and immediately called back hoping I will get someone else at call centre. 30 minutes later I now have 4 meg line with 25% discount... no contracts... paying 627 per month all in... Good deal me thinks.

Cost of 10mb with 25% incl line rental etc? Have vox 100gb fatpipe so need a speed boost from 4mb to 2mb I think

I also called in for a 25% discount when I had a 2Mbps line, when said OK I sommer upgraded to a 4Mbps line...also thinking of a 10Mbps line now...

With FTTH starting at 10mbps, i feel that in about 2 - 3 years time, 10mbps ADSL will be the entry level. Really hoping that Telkom does the right thing and upgrades the entry to 4mbps before December. Otherwise they are going to loose so many customers when these small FTTH small business set up camp in more areas.

Riiiight its been another 2 weeks. Any advancements in this area? December present possibly?

Hey guys and girls,

I must have missed this announcement!

I just upgraded my line from 2mb to 4mb - reason being, the new 4mb package offering (Do Advanced 4mb) is cheaper than the 2mb package I was on! So I'm kinda glad they didn't upgrade me, getting more for less now :P

Worthwhile checking this out - they also have this unlimited option, which gives you free calls to all cellphones - check it out as opposed to using your cellphone at home

Which option are you on? I have the 4MB and 20GB cap deal.
I upgraded my account two weeks ago and ended up paying R99 more per month.

I moved from a "DoBroadBand 2" to the "DoAdvanced 4mb - 20gig Cap"

Interestingly enough, they don't offer a 2mb line anymore, it seems like the 4mb line is now the entry level
