I did they are the only one of the service providers with coverage in my area. I am impressed so far hopefully they won't get too many subscribers clogging up the network too soon.


After dealing with Smartvillage (www.smartvillage.co.za) in my estate I should actually change my NIC. The estate is wired with fibre BUT the idiots are running 1000+ units of one or two adsl lines resulting in speeds comparable to 56k dial-up. I can't tell how much I miss my previous stable and reliable ADSL line.

With respect to the Telkom WCDMA products and in particular the fixed wireless voice product taken with closer 2 using the ETS6630, I understand the claim that its possible to be on a voice call and be connected to the internet simultaneosly. Has anyone tried this and what was the success rate? also just to confirm.. are the charges for surfing the net done according to time spent online or data usage (because of the closer 2 plan the charges should be time based similar to telkominternet but is it possible for the charging to be data usage based due to the WCDMA network used to connect) ??

:o thanks, i ordered mine but i was just concerned as to how telkom intend charging me for internet usage. I hope its data based. Also wanted some feedback from the guys using it for 1 year and 8 days:p
 
You have applied for a fixed-line lookalike service and not 3G mobile or 3G On The Go services.
 
Are there any workaround products to allow me to get my internet charged by data usage? maybe the gateway and a do3G package.

If you use the HSPDA access (*99#) then my understanding is that you will be billed at 99c/MB - but you can add bundles to the normal Wireless telephone service at normal Do 3G rates
 
I got the same service, you have to get a bundle added for any internet to work, I'm sure yours doesn't at the moment like mine.

I also have the sim with Option 2 loaded, you cannot use dial up, only the Do 3G bundles, they start at R149 for 500MB.
