Telkom will launch its own streaming service

Didn't they abandon this when they found out that internet was too slow, limited and expensive in SA?

These telcos never learn.

How many telcos have launched and failed at instant chat apps and mobile money?
Vodacom M-Pesa failed in South Africa,
MTN Mobile Money failed in South Africa
Does anyone bother with MTN Moya or Vodacom Vlive chat apps?

What these corporate's don't seem to realise is that unless your app reaches critical mass by delivering over and above the competition it will fail. I guess it keeps a bunch of IT developers employed even if they are wasting their time on white elephant projects.

Telkom employees must be smoking special stuff if they think their budget allows them to compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, etc.

Tyme Bank has 2.4 million clients so wouldn't call it a failure.

Local content over Telkom? Pure rubbish, but at least you'll never be able to watch it. On the other hand, who'd pay for that?

Waste of money and will fail.

Shareholders are against this, but still they go ahead.

Big mistake.

From the people that brought you no more internet, no more land lines and charged you for Netflix even when you didn't have an account.... Comes this years most awaited video streaming service that even has Netflix, Disney and Amazon shaking in their boots....Telkom has advised that they expect the service to work at least 30 percent of the time ( the school passmark Co incidentally) and for the service to last 18 months, by which time the cadres involved will have enriched themselves sufficiently to not give a #@#% anymore.

From the most hated company after Eishkom: a streaming service, so late to the party, the cake has already decomposed.

Who here remembers Telkom's most idiotic statement about ADSL back in the day: "high speed ADSL and internet is not meant for streaming and gaming" when they were defending their 1GB data a month caps. We endured decades of Helkom strangling our country, I'm so glad that period has ended. This company held us back 15 years.

Telkom please learn to treat your customers like gold and not trash, they are literally paying your salary. I'm looking forward to your streaming service landing as gracefully as a meteor crashing into a mountain.
