just wondering if its been the same for anyone else the kind of service telkom gives.

my line has been off for 2 weeks now, ive reported it 4 times our phones dead and internet doesnt work, everytime i call them they give me a diffrent story, 1st it was ok we'll send someone to your house, im still wwaiting for that someone to come, 2nd time i called "we fixed the box" and our lines were still not working. 3rd time we reported it again, 4th time now they say theres an underground cable issue that they figure out 1 week after i reported a 2nd time. and they still havnt came to our house to check if it could be a problem here....

Weird. I have exactly the same issue. Phone and Internet went down midnight last Wednesday and it's still not up. I hate the fact that they don't give any feedback unless you call in to ask. It's ridiculous how long it's taking. They said there was some issue with some kind of card at the exchange? I mean, how long does it take? It's been almost a week now. Bloody ridiculous, poor service.

getting even worse ... typical

i just called them up again yesterday and guess what they said... the problem isnt even on the system anymore... aparently they said they fixxed the problem when they havnt even come to check whats wrong yet...

Omfg. That's absolutely pathetic. We have to pay them so much for those services and I bet we get no refund for the time the service was down.

Your story pales in comparrison to mine "49 Days to move my business adsl line + 7 Days to get the telephone line working" The last week after they got the adsl working the turned the redirect off to my cell. So i have no idea what business i lost that week or what clients tried to get hold of me. And the 3G bill  ..... Typical service from a monopolistic company.

Not to say ther service you are recieving is not disghusting...

I've been down since Monday. 1st adsl went down, then I phoned Dtek and they did a hard port re-create on my line and adsl was back and at full capacity. A couple of hours later my landline dies and adsl drops to 40% capacity. Waiting for a technician to address....

My line was recently down for three weeks. The first technician claimed that there were no more pairs available to restore the service. I asked him to make a temporary repair in the meantime which he agreed to do the following day. He never returned. A week later Telkom called my wife's cell very early in the morning and she missed the call so the fault was cleared. I went back to the Telkom shop to ask them to escalate the fault and was told that they would. After another week had passed I went back to the shop to investigate only to be told that the ticket had been closed and that I would need to open a new ticket. After another week of no service I eventually managed to get another technician to come out and he managed to repair the problem in a few minutes. Two weeks later I am still having problems when it rains so it looks as though I am back at the beginning again. The repair technicians always make anonymous calls so that you can't contact them to arrange for a convenient time to visit. They never leave messages via SMS and just clear faults after a few days if they are too busy to attend to them.

So I emailed my contact at Telkom on Wednesday afternoon (lines been down since Monday). Thursday morning I had a technician and supervisor out at my residence checking my line. They established wet cables to be the cause of the fault. This morning 9.25am and both landline and adsl are back up and running at full capacity!!!!

I'm impressed!!!!!

Also logged a call 2 weeks ago via their website. The ticket mysteriously got closed with status resolved. But absolutely nothing were done, they didn't even contact me.

Same here. I got in touch with my contact and almost immediately the fault was resolved.

Was the problem with the underground cables or the aerial cables on the poles?

Just cancel your line and join to protest "Hellkom must die". When last 10 customers show finger to Hellkom, monkey will leave this ship to **** in another business. And viola - we all will have unlim. 10Mbit for R200! :)

Any time you receive poor service, please take notes regarding the date, time, person you dealt with, reference numbers etc., and if you have a contact, supply all this information *with* your request. If you don't have a contact, you can PM it to me (though I have limited time to check MyBB and personal mail, and limited escalation paths) and I will try and follow it up.

But, to improve service for everyone, non-performers need to be identified ...
