Telkom's switch to Vodacom causes problems for LTE-only users

"Oh thanks for letting us know." - as if it's the very first time the issue is brought to their attention. Not even a mention of a plan of action, acknowledgement of the problem, any sense of urgency or anything.

What useless response.

I don't even see the Telkom roaming link. Only Vodacom(Forbidden) and MTN(Forbidden).....oh and ofcourse Telkom's own APN.

TelkomSA-R is worst than the old MTN\Telkom roaming in our rural town (3G)
My usb stick cannot open pages, i bought a small cellc bundle to browse atm.
On my smartphone some of my incoming calls goes to voicemail, never happened on MTN\Telkom roaming.
This vodacom roaming is not good.
The mybroadband telkom rep seems to be missing in action!!

Telkom's switch to Vodacom causes problems for LTE-only users

Telkom recently switched from MTN to Vodacom as its roaming partner, a move which has caused nothing but headaches for a chunk of its customers.

Subscribers who have been using Telkom’s on-network data bundles report that their connections have become unstable.
@Jamie McKane thanks so much for following up with telkom
As mentioned, it's almost the end of july now, I've personally, as well as many others have been affected by this for almost 2 months.

Just shows how far away from the ground they are.
Senior telkom employees are probably not even using the telkom network for them to be unaware of this.

In less than an hour, and the phone in one spot, with a fairly good 4G signal...

Just incase someone from telkom is reading this thread...
And they can't really understand whats the issue

She highlighted three key areas where Telkom wanted to make improvements through its new roaming agreement:

  1. Increase coverage — expand its national footprint
  2. Decrease dropped calls
  3. Allow subscribers to access the LTE services on the roaming partner
So why is this not happening?

So basically we can't drive and use our phones to navigate properly now? Madness. Because it cuts off when it must hand off from one tower to the next?

Anyone out there can see that vodacom wants to wipe out competition will realise vodascum are bullies, example they bought out i burst when they regarded them as a threat, i burst was slowly expanding to bring affordable Internet, vodascum also warned rain network offering uncapped data at affordable R250 for non peak hours will destroy the network instead of offering rain with a solution. Vodacom buys large amounts of data from rain network to allow vodascum users to roam on rain and thought they would control how they operate thankfully for consumers rain network doesn't care what vodascum says for now, since roaming agreement whas changed to vodascum anyone noticed telkom doesn't run data deal of the months simply because vodacrap is trying to keep data prices high, vodascum sells data to prepaid users at R149 a gig and this is bought by poor people in rural areas and they refuse to bring down the price of data until forced to by competition telkom, now vodascum managed to work into the awesome telkom network and slowly destroy it in the process, if you have vodacrap sim port away they are the cause of high data prices in the country simply to please the major shareholders in the euro zone countries, think about it!

Wow. BTW when I left MTN in 2014 they were a terrible network for me. They now are the best. I hear ls lot less Cellc complaints.

Telkom... last Sunday gone by I broke down on the single lane (abandoned roadworks) 4Km outside Umvoti Toll Plaza and I could not make a call to roadside assistance, to my sister next to me who had run out of airtime, to anyone.

Welcome to the new South Africa, where no one gives a ****, because they are out to rape you as hard as they can, as often as they can at minimum cost to themselves. We got your money, now **** of till it comes time to pay us again. That how it works now.

Up until the 12th July I never had speeds less than 75 Mbps on Telkom's 2300 Mhz LTE-A.
Since then I very rarely see above 15 Mbps :(

Pull the other one.
