TelkomZA

Hi. I sent you a PM with regards to changing my line from interleave back to fastpath permanently. I included the landline phone number there. Please get back to me. I really want this interleave thing disabled.

is the UnlimitedHome packages worth it and what is the softcap? Considering switching from my current ISP.

Sorry for the bad quality as it is taken from my phone.

Could be a line fault, have you asked TelkomZA on the forum to reset your ASSIA profile?...Had the same issue with my line a while ago, turns out one of my copper strands weren't properly punched down at the SDC, when they replaced the stolen cable. ASSIA will tel them whether its a cable fault or a profile config issue.

Hi jdido87, I’m not from Telkom, but I think the UnlimitedHome package is the best thing since sliced bread. There is no softcap, it’s uncapped.

You save R792 installation costs, and with the free modem-router you save ± R800. WhatsApp messages and WhatsApp phone calls from your smartphone through your router’s Wi-Fi will cost you nothing, it’s free.

any wifi traffic on any ISP or public hotspot is free, as in it won't count against your cellular data use, it isn't cellular data it is part of the ADSL bandwidth you pay for which in this case is uncapped anyway - or are you implying that the Cellular Service providers normally charge you data rates for useing your friends wifi?

If what you have quoted above is part of Telkom's official marketing info then it sheds doubt on the rest of the marketing and should be referred to the ASA.

Hi caroper. I am not implying nothing. I’m not from Telkom, my personal opinion is not Telkom’s marketing strategy. I think Telkom’s UnlimitedHome is the best thing since sliced bread. And I’m saying one can make phone calls through ADSL wi-fi. So, what’s the fuss? Hehe.

The fuss is the implication that those calls are only free "if you take this bundle" which would imply that they charge Cellular data rates on top of your ADSL charge for use of WhatsApp on wifi if you have any other package.

I am already with telkom mobile so I am enjoying those other benefits for over a two years now. Already cancelled with my current ISP. Holding pool at the end of the month is going to be stressful.

NOT TRUE. The 4 meg package has a 350 gig soft-cap and the 10 meg package has a 900 gig soft-cap.

Both packages have percentages when the speed is reduced.

I see this basically as a 360gig capped package at a steal of a price because I am not really interested in uncapped. Good value for money. My current ISP conceded defeat when I asked them about this.

I agree - especially if you have friends or family that use Telkom fixed or mobile Voice. The anytime free calls are a nice inclusion in the package.

How can a person get Telkom's cable division to fix a cable?

Hmm I am going to give them a call over this, currently on their 4meg 40 gig deal, it sucks

OMG! I've just been through Telkom hell for the last 2 hours. My fault wasn't DSL related, but I started falling for the "Telkom is a much improved company" crap that you read now and then!

I feel like taking a shower! It was like talking to CityPower or some government department.

The scum, Telscum, decided to disable a package that I had for years - "Evening and Weekender Plan" for no reason whatsoever. They received no instruction from me.

For the last 2 hours I've been sent from pillar to post, given wrong information, lies... What's wrong with them, have they stopped outsourcing, or what?

E.g. I was told to try *#55 to activate my mailbox, then *#66 by another department, then *65# when I phoned again. "You are still on that plan", "you have never been on that plan", "you only have IdentiCall"....

The only solution is to sit and wait for my bill to see just how much they've f*&^ed up.

Is there perhaps a rep on here that can have a line reactivated. It was still used for DSL last month but the owner relocated and the tenant applied for adsl. Not sure why Telkom involved their cabling department on an existing line.
