Termination rate cuts: which operators will drop retail prices?

I wans't expecting Cell C to cut their rates so this news doesn't leave me sour however I was hoping Vodacon and MTN would show mercy and cut rates but meh business as usual screw the customers
 
Strange to hear CellC say they reduced rates in anticipation of the MTR reduction, but then at the same time they fought to delay this last round of reductions, so that they could(if successful) negotiate a better asymmetry for the smaller operators. They speaketh with a forked tongue! I'm pretty sure they still got room to reduce the rate, even though their current rates are good!

When it comes to MTN and Vodacom, as usual the ugly twin sisters do as they please... they compete with nobody, always just match each others rates and promo offers!

That is exactly the intention you moron, the reduction in termination rates were brought in to correct the larger operators' strategy of increasing MTR to discourage competition from late entrants. You were coining it big time while you were screwing everyone, surely you can stand a bit of pain while the equation is being brought back into balance again.

In that case I see more people moving to Cell-C, while they too aren't planning reductions their standard rate beats yours by miles. Friends of mine have halved their cellphone bills by jumping ship to Cell-C .. so guess what I'm doing once my contract is up?
 
Got comment from Telkom.

Since the inception of the mobile termination rates drop, Telkom has voluntarily passed the benefit to consumers by reducing its customers’ call rates to mobile operators with approximately R2bn and has positively contributed to bringing down the cost of communication in real terms for consumers. In terms of further reductions, Telkom will consider the matter as part of our annual Retail Tariff Filing in August 2013.

Also: mobile operators dropping prices and launching new products now have all said that it has little to nothing to do with MTRs going down.

so what do they say is the reason for their price reduction?
