The Virgin Mobile speeds look like 3G speeds.
AFAIK, the Nokia 9500 is and EDGE (not 3G) phone.

R U sure about the Virgin Mobile speed?

on the telkom 1 I get over 800kbps:D

This is what I get with my 3G Data Card. No 3G reception. EDGE is not that good here either. As soon as I get the antenna for the Data Card I'll do the test again.

Back on MTN

I've switched back to MTN - much more reliable - VM seems to work for only in the early morning (really fast) and during the day (intermittently reasonable speed) At night (after 8pm) it was a night-mare! So I switched back to MTN - slower but more consitent and reliable.

I got this speed at 7.55pm

Second 128K 25637 msecs: Download speed = 5113 Bytes per sec, Approx = 43K bits per sec

Own Networks

Remember you can't compair Cell C and VM data speeds as VM only use Cell C's base stations, from there is goes through there own system on VM. So that is why you might get a higher speed on Cell C then VM or vise-versa at times in the same place.

Something looks wrong with the numbers 68157K bits per sec etc. This equals 68 mbps ?!

You got it wrong. I think I'm right.:D

The average speed is 70429kbits/s. Devide that by 8 to get kBytes/s and you get 8.803kB/s. 8.803kB/s = 8.59MBytes/s

That's a nice speed to get but it sounds almost not possible. Well, I may be wrong.:rolleyes:
