Testing network throughput

Hi

Is there some sort of software/utility which will allow me to test the throughput of a network?

The utility I've got in mind can be installed on 2 PC's (slave-master) and the slave will respond to the master and do all sort of tests, including speed tests etc.

It works in pretty much the way you describe.

You can also try this one, install it on both pc's, enable one or both as Servers (under settings) and do some tests... (also make sure to set username and pass or untick authentication under settings...)

Confusing to understand and use at 1st, but more comprehensive than btest (can do multiple tcp or udp threads) ... NetStress

iperf is the standard one that we use to verify throughput. Works on both Windows and Linux. Can also do both TCP and UDP tests which helps verify different network scenario.
