Texting while driving, this has to stop

This one? That how I feel today. ;)

Fck me, he can post a photo of an private individual but everyone is up in arms because of his posted name? He could have handled this much more discrete but he chose the crusade of trying to be a hero.

You cease to be a private individual when you flout laws in public.

You cease to be a private individual when you flout laws in public.
And when you out others for their wrongdoings, you must be prepared to be "outside" too. ;)

But where is the OP with feedback of his discussion with Motorite? Surely he hasn't chickened out after his little crusade?

Hey, bdt, wherefore art thou?

Must I resort to "back channels" again? ;)

So half the country texts and talks on phones and the OP decides to post this on a public forum. I think it's bad form to post this information on a forum or social media. If it bothers you so much, the only right way to deal with it is to ask Motorite for feedback. Although the driver was in the wrong, I feel sorry for her being singled out for something in public which everyone else also does. If the driver was in an unbranded car this thread would not even exist.

What was the expected outcome of this post? Get the driver fired? Put Motorite in the spotlight about their "bad" employees? It does not really solve anything and I think there are more pressing issues one should spend energy on....

On way home yest, woman in front was messaging on her phone. Only noticed cos I was in the left lane, she in the right. I had to get in the right lane, so some time later I merged into the right lane only to discover I landed up behind her. Dammit. She was still on her frickin phone. Traffic moved...there she sits with cars in front of her moving off leaving a big gap. So I hit the hooter. She raises her hand to apologize...so knowing she is looking at me shout say "Get off your Farkin phone you stupid bitch!". Yep...she understood that...she didnt touch her phone again after that while I was behind her.

With her checking her phone all the time...she wasnt watching where she was going and would slam on brakes last minute. Hopefully I helped stop a potential accident...but cmon, if there is something that needs urgent responses...pull the fark over.

TEXTING WHILST DRIVING - PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (PSA) VIDEOS

To ANYONE who EVER texts or uses their cellphone whilst driving, PLEASE watch these videos, before you decide that using or answering your phone is MORE important than concentrating on driving!

AT&T - "The Last Text" - USA
A survey we commissioned indicates that while 97 percent of teens know texting while driving is dangerous, 43 percent of them admit to sending a text while driving — and 75 percent say the practice is common among their friends.

To bring attention to this issue, AT&T produced a 10-minute documentary titled "The Last Text," featuring stories of real individuals whose lives have been adversely affected by texting behind the wheel.

COW - "Only Stwpd Cows Text N Drive" - Gwent, Wales
Mick Giannasi is Gwent's police chief constable. He's also a member of the national Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and a driving safety specialist; referred to by the UK press as "Britain's top traffic policeman".

"I want as many young people and families as possible to see this film so that they understand the consequences of such accidents on small communities like their own.

The film shows just how dangerous it is to be irresponsible behind the wheel.

It doesn't only show the immediate consequences of the accident, but also the consequences for the family, the community, and the girl herself.

People in Canada have contacted us to say how moved they were by the clip.

A young driver from Cornwall sent me an email to say that the film should be shown to young people when they pass their driving test.

I told him that that was exactly what we - the fire service, the ambulance service and the helicopters - were hoping for when we were shooting it."

Spare me the torture chamber drama. I am glad you felt compelled to watch all those clips and I hope that changed your habits for the positive. ;)

I have made it a rule ever since I got my first cell phone - an NEC brick - in the mid 1990's - that I do NOT use or answer my phone whilst driving!

That's what voice-mail and SMS's are for - to inform me of anything i need to be made aware of once I have reached my destination.

What REALLY intrigues and puzzles me is why people with prestige luxury cars or hi-performance supercars - which ALL have Bluetooth hands-free connectivity built-into their infotainment systems - continue to drive around our streets & highways with their Samsung Galaxy S3 / Apple iPhone 5 / Nokia Lumia 'smartphone' pressed with one hand against their ear, or wedged between head and shoulder, weaving erratically from lane to lane as they attempt to keep their cars on the road, whilst being distracted by an 'important' phone call!

What is SO MUCH more important then your own life, those of your passengers, and the other innocent motorists around you, that your concentration needs to be taken by a voice in the ether, rather than the more critical task of driving responsibly on the roads with 'due care and attention'?

Social responsibility is everyone's duty, and we all need to set the example, rather than a few being the exception to the rule!

Wishing you all a happy Hands-free or Bluetooth-enabled motoring journey!

Well, I "back-channeled" bdt but it seems he is extremely reluctant to divulge anything. Rather odd after his gung ho crusade earlier..... ::)

Oh the melodrama

But yes, that is annoying, but not quite the same as checking a message in traffic or at a red traffic light ;)
