So one of the hostesses on our Similan Island Trip is a ladyboy and moonlights at the Moomoo Cabaret Show in Bang Niang.
We went to check it out and it was super fun. The lipsyncing is **** and the dancing is hardly Broadway, but it was a super fun night and she was so grateful that we came to support her. She even gave one of us a ride back to the hotel on her scooter!
The show is free entry. You just pay for drinks. Soft drinks 150, beers and smoothies 200, cocktails 250. There is a row of couches in the front which you can book in advance, otherwise you just sit at small tables in pairs.
It is also right next to the Bang Niang Market which is open 4 nights a week and has plenty to buy and eat.

We're leaving tomorrow. We have done Phuket, Khao Lak, Similan Island, James Bond Island. Haven't been disappointed by anything so far.
Next time I'll do the other side... Krabi, Koh Samui, Bangkok etc.

how you flying back? via emirates with stopover in dubai?
or via heathrow and then back to JHB,
or via dragonair to Hong Kong and then direct to JHB/CPT?
Rather cut Krabi and do Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Fly Cape Town to Changi, Changi to Samui direct. Back Bangkok to Changi, do a one night stopover and fly home. The one night is two full days as the flight home is at 1:00 in the morning.
Why are you flying with Mango? Singapore has daily flights to and from Cape Town.

I had 1 or 2 things to do in Joburg, so I stopped over for a few hours. I'll definitely look at that suggestion though. Thanks bokka.
Quick hijack. Do you guys take a lot of gadgets with when travelling? I'm leaving for Thailand in 2 days (with Emirates, 2 day stop over in Dubai) and have way too much stuff I think. GoPro with bunch of accessories, mavic pro drone (first time travelling with this one), camera, tablet, powerbanks and extra batteries, cables and cables and cables.

yeah for security they might ask you to pack laptops and batteries separate, not sure how strict they are nowadays.
not sure how secure emirates actually is.

I normally just take my camera, phone and iPad. Maybe a mini-tripod depending on where I'm going.
Anything else would be overkill IMO as you'd be playing more with your gadgets than actually holidaying...

Question, us smokers (like me), this is a moerse long flight. How do you not smoke for the entire flight ? Drink plenty of whiskey and pass out ?

do actually wonder how you cope with long flights with no smoking allowed, as even vaping is discouraged now.

Yep, sleep. Nothing else you can do.
Then when you arrive, make a scramble to the nearest kiosk to find yourself a lighter, since you're not allowed to take one on your carry-on. I've taken lighters before - sometimes they catch it when they scan your luggage, sometimes they let it go...

Thank you. Planning my first trip there and was wondering about the smokers. So you are allowed smokes with you, but not the lighter ?

Its actually pretty funny. I stood in a queue for about 30 minutes on Heathrow (I think?) once, and when I got to the front the couple in front of me asked if there was a smoking section inside. No? They went back outside so they could smoke until the last moment

Yeah you're not allowed to take anything on your carry-on that can start a flame for obvious reasons.
And also any liquids that can spill due to cabin pressure - lotions etc. or anything flammable like deodorants. There's a list of things you can find on the airline's website.
Cigarettes on their own are no more flammable than a piece of paper...
I took my Spark and didn't pull it out once. Carried that thing all throughout Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
Peh. I did take my camera and lens, used those a bunch. My iPod. Powerbank. eBook.
If I was doing it again I'd probably just take one camera, one lens, iPod.
Never really bothered me to be honest. And I'm 46 days (more or less

I flew Durban-Dubai-Phuket-Chiang Mai-Bangkok-Dubai-Durban and always carried a lighter with me. Its actually pretty funny. I only found out once I had already checked in that there was no smoking spots inside Heathrow
Didn't bother going outside again, just stuck it out.

Didn't have an issue with most places either, but at Tanzania en-route to Zanzibar they picked it up and made me toss it in a box filled with other people's lighters. Just saying that if you're a smoker, it helps to be prepared in the event that it does happen...Never had an issue with taking a lighter before
