what car was this ? something tells me you didn't drive correctly. i changed clutch twice on my Now sold hyundai. sold at 545k km 2nd clutch was only about 30k km old. 10 year old ford fiesta with 110k km still on factory clutch.

Seems you didn’t know how to operate a manual, so yeah stick to the auto.

Could also be a crappy car, my brother had the first generation Yaris 1.0l, changed clutch three times before he decided enough was enough and the car was way below 200k kms. Toyota was always telling him he can drive, while he had a Tazz approaching 200k kms on it with the original clutch.
 
My 2013 VW Polo Cross 1.6tdi is sitting on about 204k km. I bought it July 2016 with 37k km on. So average about 4400km per month.

Even so it’s not something to be at all concerned about with regards to letting your tank run near empty.

Can vouch for @unobeat car, its kept in pretty immaculate condition and very very meticulously taken care of. @unobeat im impressed you still have that Uno, its been around since the sns forum days.

Fiat FTW!!! My wifes Fiat Palio has 209k on the clock, was a 1 owner car with like 38k on the clock when she bought it about 12-13 years ago and still going strong. Cambelt has snapped twice with no internal damage and the clutch has been done once, has a new radiator and water bottle due to wear and tear. Other than that its been general maintenance, its on its 3rd set of tyres, had 15 inch wheels on, we changed to 13 inch a few years ago after she hit a pothole for the second time and rim straightening can be expensive hence the 13s, brakes pads have been done 2 or 3 times, its been in 1 slight front end fender bender.

My Nissan 1400 has a service history up to 180k which was last updated in the 2000s somewhere and its about to go back to 60k so im assuming its around the 360k mark seen as its a 1995 or so model which only goes up to 99999km and then back to zero. so yea 360 or maybe even 460k LOL. Don't know if its the original motor, only bought it a year ago, my mechanic who did the clutch 2 weeks ago reckons compression is low and it may need an overhaul soon, it does smoke a bit which makes sense and it is a bit heavy on fuel but there are not known to be very efficient.

Two to three hours each day, travelling 18km to work and 18km back. That was a Ford Mondeo, with a lovely expensive dual-mass flywheel that needed replacing almost every time. And labour cost on it was stupid (the Haynes manual suggests that the less experienced mechanics pull the engine out to do the clutch).

Was it a V6? I can't imagie why it would be easier to remove the engine and leave the gearbox on FWD transverse engine.
 
Honda accord - 2006 model - 285 000km :)
easy and going strong. suspension is perfect - replaced alternator and power steering pipe.
K24a Engine is still super silent and with 147kw, its still giving beat downs to some clowns.
